  • Strategic Advisor: Female Entrepreneurs Unlock Scaling Superpowers

The Strategic Imperative: How a Trusted Advisor Becomes Your Scaling Superpower as a Female Entrepreneur Ever feel like you’re pedalling faster & faster on the entrepreneurial hamster wheel, but the scenery isn’t changing quite as dramatically as you’d hoped? You’ve built something incredible, something from scratch, often while juggling a family, a household, & approximately a million other things (I see you, fellow mums trying to find matching socks while mentally drafting an email!). But now, you’re eyeing that next level – serious scaling – & the strategies that got you here suddenly feel… well, a bit like trying to power a rocket ship with AA batteries. If you’re nodding along, especially if you identify with that ambitious ‘Scaling Leader’ ready to smash through plateaus, or the ‘Visionary Leader’ aiming to build a lasting legacy, then this chat is for you. Because there comes a point where going it alone, or relying on generic advice, simply isn’t the smartest way to grow. In fact, it can be a fast track to burnout & stagnation. I remember vividly the first time I felt truly lost at a scaling point in my business. I was drowning in to-do lists, client demands, & social media, that I lost all sense of strategic direction. It was only when I started actively seeking out a mentor who could guide me that I was able to truly flourish, get my time back, & start having real breakthroughs again. It was a turning point that really highlighted the importance of seeking external support to truly flourish. Honestly, it's about recognizing that taking personal responsibility also means seeking out the right support to truly flourish. Today, I want to talk about something I believe is a strategic imperative for sustainable, joyful scaling: engaging a trusted advisor. & no, this isn’t just another expense; it’s a critical investment in your business’s future & just as importantly, in your own well-being & sanity. Beyond the Hustle: Why Scaling Demands a Strategic Shift Those early days of business are often fuelled by pure grit, passion, & a lot of doing. You’re the chief cook & bottle-washer, & that’s brilliant! But scaling? Scaling is a different beast altogether. It demands that we lift our heads from the operational whirlwind & cultivate true strategic foresight. It’s about moving from constantly doing the work to thoughtfully designing the work & the business that supports it. A strategic advisor helps you make this crucial shift. They’re not just there to give you a few new tactics; they’re there to help you see the bigger picture, to refine your vision until it’s crystal clear, & to identify those high-impact activities that will actually move the needle. It’s about building a robust, scalable business architecture. This really resonates with me – my own journey through an MBA at Cranfield, & now my PhD research into Black female entrepreneurship, constantly reinforces the power of strategic thinking over just 'busyness'. It was during my MBA, juggling a young child, that I had a profound realisation: climbing higher on someone else’s ladder wasn’t my definition of success. True fulfilment lay in building something of my own, strategically, that aligned with the quality of life I desired. In fact, I was thinking recently, isn't life about the quality of it, not just how much you've got in the pocket? This means sharpening your focus, ensuring your mindset is geared for leadership, & that your vision is compelling enough to pull you through the challenges. While Femmeprenista offers a broad range of support for every stage (you can learn more about our overall mission here ), today we're focusing on a critical element for those ready to truly soar. Your Secret Weapon for Smart Growth (Especially When You’re Juggling It All!) Now, let’s be really honest. If you’re a mother running a business, your time is beyond precious. It’s like gold dust, isn’t it? I remember so many mornings when I’d be trying to get ready, only for, literally, your kids to disrupt every attempt, & then you go outside with like, one eyeliner on & the other, like, even get to finish your makeup on time, yeah? Because you were trying to clean castor oil off the carpet! Or trying to have a focused thought while the familiar theme tune of Dora the Explorer played on a loop in the background. The idea of just “working more hours” to scale isn’t just unappealing; it’s often utterly impossible. Let's face it, if life was easy, everybody would do it! This is where a strategic advisor becomes an absolute game-changer, particularly for ambitious mothers. They’re your partner in working smarter , not just harder. They help you implement intelligent systems, often leveraging the incredible power of AI to streamline your processes & claw back precious time & energy. For example, using AI-powered tools for social media scheduling can free up hours each week. Studies show scheduling tools can save up to 5 hours per week. Imagine having systems that hum along efficiently, taking care of the repetitive tasks, freeing you up to focus on strategy, innovation, & yes, even being truly present with your family. An advisor helps you avoid costly mistakes born from overwhelm or lack of specific expertise, guiding you to make savvy decisions that accelerate growth without adding to your personal burden. It’s about creating genuine flow in your business, where things feel less like a constant uphill battle & more like a well-orchestrated dance. Are You Ready? Signs You Need a Strategic Co-Pilot So, how do you know if you’ve reached the stage where a strategic advisor is less of a "nice-to-have" & more of a "need-to-have"? Here are a few tell-tale signs: You’ve hit a growth plateau: Sales have stalled, or your income has flatlined despite your best efforts. You’re working harder, but not seeing the results. Complexity feels overwhelming: Your business has grown, but so has the complexity of managing it all. You’re bogged down in operational details & struggling to find time for strategic thinking. You know you need to build a team, but don’t know where to start: The thought of hiring, delegating, & managing others feels daunting. You’re constantly firefighting: You’re reactive rather than proactive, lurching from one urgent issue to the next. Your vision feels a bit fuzzy, or you’ve outgrown your old one: You need help clarifying your next-level goals & the roadmap to get there. You’re feeling isolated: You crave a trusted sounding board, someone who understands the unique challenges of scaling & can offer objective, expert guidance. If any of these resonate, it might be time. So what's next? Identify your Key Bottlenecks: What are the 2-3 biggest challenges currently holding your business back from scaling (e.g., lead generation, team management, system inefficiencies)? Clarify your Desired Outcomes: What specific results do you hope to achieve with a strategic advisor (e.g., increase revenue by X%, reclaim Y hours per week, build a high-performing team)? Define your Values: What qualities are most important in an advisor (e.g., experience in your industry, proven track record, a holistic approach, alignment with your core values)? Set a Budget: Determine how much you’re willing to invest in strategic guidance. Research Potential Advisors: Look for advisors who specialize in your specific challenges, align with your values, & have a proven track record of success. When choosing an advisor, it’s not just about their credentials; it’s about alignment. Do they share your values? Do they understand your vision? Do they offer a holistic approach that considers you as a whole person, not just a business owner? A truly effective strategic advisor considers your entire ecosystem, much like our Business Flourish Framework emphasizes, looking at how your mindset (Focus), your marketing (Flair), your systems (Flow), your well-being (Fuel), & yes, your smart use of technology (Fusion), all interlink to create sustainable success. The Real ROI: Transformation Beyond the Balance Sheet The impact of the right strategic advisor goes far beyond just increasing your revenue (though that’s a very welcome outcome!). They act as a catalyst for profound transformation, helping you build not just a bigger business, but a better one – one that is more fulfilling, more sustainable, & more deeply aligned with your long-term vision & personal values. This is where personal responsibility shines. Recognising you need this level of support & actively seeking it out is a powerful act of leadership. It’s about understanding that investing in expert guidance isn't a sign of weakness, but a strategic move to accelerate your journey & safeguard your well-being. & honestly, you're not alone. You'd probably be surprised how many women I speak to who are at this exact stage! A great advisor helps you to ensure your business fuels your life, rather than drains it, prioritizing your energy & joy alongside your profit margins. They champion your vision, challenge your limiting beliefs, & help you step into your full potential as a leader. For those of you who identify as ‘Scaling Leaders’, ready to move out of the FLOW pillar, building those streamlined efficient workflows & who are ready to delegate, our Momentum Coaching is designed precisely for you. & for our ‘Visionary Leaders’, already leading established businesses but aiming for exponential growth, legacy building, & true executive leadership, perhaps ready to move onto FOCUS & build your mental resilience, a dedicated strategic advisor provides that high-level counsel essential for navigating complexity & amplifying impact. Our Ascend Executive Coaching offers this bespoke strategic partnership. Ultimately, bringing a strategic advisor into your world is about investing in your capacity to lead, innovate, & build a business that not only thrives financially but also enriches your life & allows you to make the impact you’re truly here to make. If you’re feeling that pull, that knowing feeling that it’s time for a new level of support & strategic thinking, I encourage you to explore what that could look like for you. It might just be the superpower you need to unlock your next chapter of extraordinary growth. Learn more about how Femmeprenista can help you scale . • CEO Mum Work Life: How I Juggle It All (You Can Too!)

A Day in My Flourishing Life: Juggling CEO & Mum of Four Right, let's be honest, the phrase "work-life balance" can feel like chasing rainbows for us busy mums trying to build empires whilst simultaneously navigating the beautiful chaos of family life. It's like trying to apply perfectly matched eyeliner whilst cleaning peanut butter (or is it slime this time?) off the carpet... with one hand… whilst also answering a work call. Sound familiar? (Or maybe it's the recorder your daughter insists on playing during your Zoom meetings!) But what if I told you it is possible? That integrating work & life isn't a myth, but a reality built on intentional choices, smart systems, & – dare I say it – embracing the perfectly imperfect juggle? It’s not about flawless harmony; it’s about intentionally designing a life that accommodates all of you. Especially when, like so many of us millennial mums, you’re doing it without the traditional village of support. Grandparents are still working, childcare costs are through the roof (almost as high as rent these days!), and sometimes it feels like you’re juggling chainsaws, not just teething toddlers and to-do lists. I'm opening the doors & giving you a peek behind the curtain of my day, demonstrating how I, as a CEO & mum of four (plus two miniature pinchers who think they’re honorary children!), weave the principles of smart working into every precious hour. Because that’s the key, isn't it? Working smarter , not just harder . It’s a lesson I learned the hard way, from pulling all-nighters during my MBA at Cranfield (whilst also wrangling a toddler, might I add!) to the early days of my first proper business venture, Nisbett and George, when I realised that passion alone doesn't pay the bills – or the ever-increasing price of a simple block of cheese! Morning Mayhem & Mindset Magic My mornings usually start before the sun thinks about rising. It's a delicate dance between sneaking in some quiet time for reflection (and maybe a strong coffee!) before the whirlwind descends. My teenage daughter has a knack for needing "THE most important thing" five minutes before we're due out the door, and my toddler firmly believes socks are optional, no matter the weather. Honestly, sometimes it feels like I'm running a pre-school, not a business coaching hundreds of women! This is where a bit of positive thinking and visualization helps. Just picturing myself calmly navigating the morning rush, everyone dressed and fed (mostly!), can make all the difference. Just picturing myself calmly navigating the morning rush, everyone dressed and fed (mostly!), can make all the difference. There was a time when just getting everyone out the door felt like a monumental win, never mind launching a business, scaling it to multiple six figures, and doing it all whilst pursuing my PhD research into Black female entrepreneurship. This journey hasn’t been easy, and it definitely hasn’t been linear. Focused Flow: Powering Through the Priorities Once the school run is conquered (a feat worthy of its own Olympic medal some days!), it’s time to dive into focused work. This is where smart systems & AI integration truly become my lifesavers. For example, using Calendly for scheduling has saved me hours each week – time I can now spend on client work or, you know, actually having a conversation with my partner without Espresso "helpfully" shredding important documents in the background! My partner & I have meticulously designed our processes to leverage technology wherever possible. Think automated emails using Mailchimp, project management with Trello, & even an AI assistant like Jasper to help with blog posts & social media content. Remember, efficiency is key when you're running a business & a household, especially when you’re juggling multiple kids, a PhD, and recovering from your fourth C-section like I am right now! It's why I'm so passionate about helping other mums work smarter . If you're a Foundation Builder, just starting out and feeling overwhelmed by all the tech, our Launch Programme is perfect for setting up those essential business systems so you can secure your first clients. You can find out more about how we help here: Launch Programme Family Fusion: Blending Business & Belonging Midday often means a break for family lunch & genuine connection. As a Foundation Builder, you’re probably juggling a million things, from validating your idea to finding your first few clients. It’s easy to let the “urgent” tasks crowd out the important ones, like connecting with your family. Trust me, I’ve been there. This is my non-negotiable time to truly be present with my kids, hearing all about the school day dramas or deciphering my youngest’s unique brand of toddler language (which often involves pointing, grunting, & the occasional dramatic sigh!). It's a reminder that the "why" behind building my business is all about creating a life where I can be there for these precious moments. And sometimes, just sometimes, it also means letting the washing pile up a little higher, or ordering takeout instead of cooking a gourmet meal. As entrepreneurs, especially as mums, we’re allowed to choose our battles. Afternoon Acceleration: Client Connections & Creative Sparks Afternoons are usually dedicated to client calls, coaching sessions, or strategic brainstorming. My client-facing time is always child-free (a non-negotiable boundary!), but the background juggle is a very real part of the entrepreneurial mum life. This is where I get to witness firsthand the power of transformation as I guide incredible women to achieve their version of flourishing. For instance, just yesterday, a client shared how overwhelmed she felt juggling her business & three kids. By simply implementing a few AI tools like Otter.ai for transcribing meeting notes and Later.com for scheduling social media posts, she was able to free up a whole afternoon for focused work - and finally have dinner with her family without checking emails under the table! This is something I'm deeply passionate about. I've helped hundreds of women, many of them mums like me, launch & scale their businesses, integrating smart strategies with the realities of their lives. I built my business from the ground up, starting with just an idea and a whole lot of determination, whilst raising my family and completing my MBA & now my PhD. It’s a journey I’m still on, and it definitely hasn’t always been smooth sailing. As Lisa Nichols says, "Your job is to fill your own cup, so it overflows. Then you can serve others, joyfully, from your saucer." This is why I do what I do. This is why I help women step into their greatness. Evening Ease: Recharging & Reconnecting As the day winds down, it's crucial to prioritize recharging. As a Foundation Builder, time is your most precious resource. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of working late into the night, trying to do “all the things.” I’ve been there. There have been weeks when my to-do list felt longer at the end of the day than it did at the beginning, and my “me time” consisted of scrolling through Instagram at 2 AM whilst simultaneously feeding the baby and trying to answer client emails. It wasn't sustainable, and it definitely wasn't healthy. What I learned, sometimes the hard way, is that you can't pour from an empty cup. A quiet evening walk, a mindful moment, or some playtime with the little ones (and the eternally energetic Espresso!) helps me unwind & reconnect with my family after a busy day. Evenings are also a great opportunity to connect with my partner. Date nights, even simple ones, are non-negotiable. We’ve learned the hard way (hello, "working film night" fail!) that nurturing our relationship is just as important as nurturing the business. Flourishing, Not Just Functioning: You Can Do It Too! My day, like yours, is a symphony of organised chaos. But by making intentional choices, prioritizing what truly matters (smart strategies, efficient systems, well-being, & leveraging the power of AI!), & embracing the perfectly imperfect juggle, we can design lives & businesses that truly flourish. Remember, if you’re just starting out on your business journey, you’re a Foundation Builder. You’re at the stage of validating your idea, finding your niche, and building a strong foundation. It can feel overwhelming, I know. One of the biggest mistakes I made early on (we're talking pre-Cocoista, even pre-Nisbett & George, back when I thought selling sweets in the playground was the pinnacle of entrepreneurship!), was trying to do everything myself. I was convinced that asking for help was a sign of weakness. What a load of rubbish! What I eventually learned, and what I now teach my clients, is that asking for help is actually a superpower. It’s about recognizing your strengths, acknowledging your limitations, and building a support system that empowers you to thrive. If I can do it, you absolutely can too. It’s about owning your path, your pace, and working smart, not just hard. After all, as Myron Golden says, "Poor people Major in minor things. Wealthy people Major in Major things.” Ready to Spark Your Own Flourishing Journey? Join our amazing Femme Connect community! It’s a supportive space where you can connect with other driven women, share tips for navigating the juggle, & get access to valuable resources that fit YOUR busy life. We talk about everything from mastering tech tools (without needing a computer science degree!) to managing the mental load of motherhood whilst building a business empire. Think masterclasses on attracting your ideal clients, templates that save you precious time, and a whole tribe of women cheering you on every step of the way. Plus, it’s free! • Owning Generosity in Female Entrepreneurship: Thrive Guide

Beyond the Awkward Payment Dance: Owning Your Business, Owning Your Generosity Ever been there? That end-of-day huddle at the bar, everyone’s tired, ready to unwind, but there’s that unspoken thing hanging in the air… Who’s picking up the tab? You know the scenario. You’re a woman entrepreneur, navigating the subtly charged world of business networking. You’re there to connect, to build relationships, but this awkward payment dance can throw you off. Do you offer? Do you wait? Does splitting the bill really feel equal when everyone ordered differently? It's like trying to decipher toddler language – you sort of get it, but some bits are still a bit foreign! And all you really want is a straightforward, genuine connection without this unspoken subtext. Honestly, I’ve been there too, trust me. There was this one time, early in my career, when I was at a networking event – a room full of seasoned professionals – and I completely misjudged the "drinks on me" etiquette. I ended up covering a round for a much larger group than I intended, which left me in a bit of a financial pickle that month. It was one of those "cringe, but true" moments that taught me a lot about navigating these situations with more grace & intention. It's like that feeling you get when you're the only one at a networking event who doesn't seem to "get" the unwritten rules. This experience, and others like it, fueled my desire to create a different kind of business culture – one built on genuine connection and radical generosity genuine connection and radical generosity . But here's the beautiful thing about building your own business: you get to rewrite the script. You get to create a culture where generosity flows naturally, where celebrating team wins is a joy, not a source of low-key anxiety. This is about far more than just drinks; it's about taking control and creating an environment where success is celebrated openly & authentically, without this weird unspoken payment game. And that, my friend, is true empowerment. Rewriting the Rules: Generosity on Your Terms Owning a business gives you the power to move beyond awkward social scripts and embrace genuine connection. Think about it: when you're the one calling the shots, you get to decide how to celebrate team wins, how to acknowledge contributions, how to express gratitude. This really speaks to that core value of Action Action within the Femmeprenista Business Flourish Framework Femmeprenista Business Flourish Framework – it's about taking ownership, building consistent Momentum Momentum in your business and personal life, and creating a culture of appreciation that aligns with your values. I don't just dig the hole where I'm told to; I actually question, is this the best way of doing things? My Gemini nature just won't let me accept the status quo! Always be curious, always be adapting to a better way. This constant questioning and striving for improvement is something I see consistently in my research on Black female entrepreneurship – it’s that inherent drive to create something better, not just for themselves, but for the community. It's like creating that perfect, supportive environment you always wished you had – which is what I aim to do with Femmeprenista. There's so much power in finding your fit. Beyond the Split Bill: Celebrating Success with Intention Imagine this: you've just landed a major client, or your team has smashed a quarterly target. Instead of the usual scramble at the bar, you announce, "Drinks are on me tonight, team! Let’s celebrate this amazing win!". There’s a power in that. It’s not just about the drinks; it's a statement. It's about celebrating openly, generously, & authentically. It’s about building genuine camaraderie and acknowledging collective effort. You’re fostering a culture where success is something to be shared, not a silent competition of who pays first. This is an example of actively Fueling Fueling your team’s morale – a key element of sustainable success, which is a core part of the Business Flourish Framework Business Flourish Framework . This reminds me of a coaching session with a client who was a " Foundation Builder Foundation Builder ," struggling with pricing anxiety. She was so talented but kept undervaluing her services, a pattern I see often in my PhD research on female entrepreneurship and the challenges women face around owning their worth. We talked about her "why," the transformative impact she had on her clients, and how her pricing wasn't just a number but a reflection of the deep value she provided. She was operating from that "To Me" level of consciousness, almost like she was apologizing for her existence, her impact, her value. Once she understood that and started operating more from a "Through Me" place, things shifted drastically. This shift in perspective, from scarcity to abundance, was key for her to step into her power & charge what she was truly worth. As she grew, and transitioned to a ' Scaling Leader Scaling Leader ,' her mindset around money shifted even more towards abundance and intentional investment in her own growth. This included being open to hiring support and leveraging tools to create more spaciousness in her schedule, a mindset that significantly contributed to her scaling sustainably and attracting even higher-level clients. For her, focusing on her Mindset Mindset and her " Focus Focus " – the first pillar of the Business Flourish Framework Business Flourish Framework – was as important as the practical strategies we developed. The Flair Flair pillar, encompassing authentic marketing & messaging, helped her clearly articulate her value proposition & attract those premium clients she craved. This shift exemplifies the broader Femmeprenista ethos: taking control, designing your own path, & leading with confidence, fueled by that core Focus Focus on mindset mastery. It’s about moving from a place of reactivity (where those social scripts dictate your actions) to a place of empowered leadership. It's like what I learned from my MBA at Cranfield – that true leadership, both in business & in life, comes from creating a clear vision, understanding the psychology of your target audience, & taking decisive action. The Power of "Drinks on Me": More Than Just a Transaction It's more than just buying a round. It's about sending a clear message: Valuing Contributions: You’re actively showing your team that their hard work is appreciated. This creates a culture that authentically celebrates collective wins & builds genuine team connection. Building Genuine Connection: You’re fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared success. It’s about connection, not a transaction. It’s like those moments when my toddler daughter comes up to me with a little pottery cup from school, all excited to show me her creation. It's not always convenient when I'm trying to meet a deadline or answer emails, but I try to be present, to connect with her joy, to decipher her sometimes-cryptic "toddler language" and understand her world. These are the moments that fuel my "why" and remind me what truly matters. This principle of genuine connection, this real human empathy, is also key for building strong client relationships. It's part of creating that all-important " Know, Like & Trust Know, Like & Trust " factor. Leading with Generosity: You’re setting the tone for a culture of abundance and appreciation. This act creates an upward spiral, where generosity breeds more generosity, strengthening team bonds and fostering loyalty. I’m not saying you have to foot the bill every time. This isn’t about financial burden; it’s about intention. It's about having the freedom and autonomy to express gratitude on your own terms. It’s about taking that uncomfortable, unspoken payment dance and transforming it into an opportunity for authentic connection. Companies like Southwest Airlines, known for their employee-centric culture, profit-sharing program, and generous perks, are a testament to the long-term benefits of prioritizing people. This creates a culture of loyalty and shared success, a concept I often explore in my PhD research into female entrepreneurship, particularly how women leaders create thriving and supportive environments. Plus, you never know what one act of generosity can lead to… It can spark unexpected collaborations, create lasting partnerships, or simply build goodwill that comes back to you tenfold. It’s like planting seeds in your "neglected garden" – you might not see immediate results, but with consistent nurturing, those seeds will eventually blossom into something beautiful & abundant. From Awkwardness to Empowerment: The Femmeprenista Way Ready to ditch the awkward payment dance and create a culture of generous appreciation in your business? Here’s a simple, 3-step plan to get you started: Reflect & Reframe: Think about a time you felt uncomfortable in a similar payment situation. What triggered those feelings? Was it financial pressure, social anxiety, or a sense of not knowing the "right" way to handle it? How can you reframe that past experience into a learning opportunity? What specific strategy could you implement next time to feel more empowered & in control of the situation, rather than simply reacting to social pressure? It’s about shifting your mindset and choosing a response that aligns with your values & goals. Perhaps you could pre-plan a budget for networking events or decide beforehand how much you're comfortable spending, irrespective of what others order, as one way to take control. This links back to our " Focus Focus " pillar, which is all about mastering your mindset, overcoming limiting beliefs, & leading with confidence. Set an Intention: Decide how you want to express gratitude in your business & your personal life. Do you want to celebrate team wins with "drinks on me," offer a small gift or bonus for exceptional work, or perhaps just express verbal appreciation more frequently? What small, symbolic gesture aligns with your brand, your budget, and your values? Maybe it's a handwritten thank-you note, a spontaneous act of kindness, or a shout-out on social media recognizing someone's contributions. Remember, true generosity isn't about grand displays; it's about the thought & intention behind the action, the genuine desire to connect. Take Action: The next time a team win, a client milestone, or a personal achievement calls for a celebration, don’t hesitate. Take ownership and express your appreciation authentically. Remember, your actions speak volumes about your values and the kind of culture you're creating. Don't overthink it; just do it! It's like that moment when my daughter, Alana, finally learned to ride her bike – it wasn’t from sheer force or intense practice but from a moment of joyful ease, a sudden "click" where the pressure was off and she found her flow. This sudden breakthrough is often what happens when we stop "forcing" things and allow ourselves to find that natural rhythm. The underlying lesson, however, is persistence. You might fall or wobble (we all do!), but you get back up and keep trying. Keep showing up, keep practicing, keep putting yourself out there, and those breakthroughs will happen. • Mum Entrepreneur Self-Employment Guide: Thrive as a CEO Mum

From Corporate Cog to CEO of Your Life: A Mum’s Guide to Making the Leap to Self-Employment Are you staring out of your office window, or perhaps over a mountain of laundry, dreaming of a life where you call the shots? Where your work genuinely excites you & crucially, fits around your beautiful, chaotic family life, not the other way around? If the thought of swapping your commute for creative control, your rigid schedule for genuine flexibility, & someone else's targets for your own purposeful mission makes your heart beat a little faster, then darling, you're in the right place. Honestly, I’ve been there. I remember that feeling of being a cog, albeit a hardworking one, in someone else’s machine. Even with an MBA from Cranfield under my belt, which I’d initially pursued thinking it would land me a ‘better’ corporate role after my second daughter was born, I realised something profound. The shiny corporate ladder, even with a higher salary, wasn't going to give me the quality of life, the autonomy, or the direct impact I craved. It wouldn’t give me the space to be truly present for my children in the way I yearned to be. That’s a big part of my ‘why’ for founding Femmeprenista – to build something meaningful that aligns with my whole life, not just my professional ambition. See, even selling sweets in the playground as a kid gave me more of that feeling. Like even as a kid, I just wanted to make people happy. For more on my journey, you can always pop over to my About Femmeprenista / Carlene Nisbett page. Making the transition from employee to entrepreneur isn’t just a career change; it's a fundamental shift in how you see yourself & your potential. It's an opportunity to strategically engineer a professional life rooted in your own values, designed for fulfillment & yes, for managing the wonderful juggle of motherhood. So, let’s talk about how to make that leap successfully. The Mindset Makeover: Trading Your Employee Hat for a CEO Crown (From Day One!) This is, without a doubt, the most critical recalibration you’ll undertake. When you’re employed, there’s a certain rhythm, isn’t there? Tasks are often assigned, direction comes from above, & your responsibilities, while significant, are usually within a defined framework. Becoming your own boss, especially if you’re a solopreneur to start with, flips that script entirely. Suddenly, you are the visionary, the strategist, the marketer, the finance department, & the chief coffee maker, all rolled into one. This requires a monumental shift towards radical personal responsibility. I learnt this the hard way, even within corporate structures like Apple. If a mistake happened on my watch, I owned it, learned from it, & immediately focused on rectifying it & ensuring it didn't happen again. That ownership mindset is amplified tenfold in entrepreneurship. There’s no one to blame if a launch doesn’t go to plan, or if a client isn’t happy. It’s on you to analyse, adapt, & improve. But here’s the empowering part: the successes are all yours too! This isn't about waiting until your business is "big enough" to feel like a CEO. You are the CEO from the moment you decide to pursue this path. This means: Proactive Problem-Solving: Instead of waiting for instructions, you’re constantly asking, "What needs to be done? How can I make this better?" Decisive Action: You’ll need to get comfortable making decisions, often with imperfect information. Unwavering Self-Belief: There will be days filled with doubt. Cultivating a resilient, focused mindset, knowing your ‘why’, is what will carry you through. It’s about moving from "What am I supposed to do?" to "What will I create today?" Don't Just Leap, Plan Your Landing: The Non-Negotiables Before You Resign I know, I know. When the entrepreneurial bug bites hard & you’re desperate to escape a soul-crushing job, the temptation is to just hand in your notice & figure it out as you go. & while I’m all for bold action, I’m also a huge advocate for smart, strategic action. A dream without a plan can quickly turn into a nightmare. So, before you make that exhilarating leap, let’s talk foundations: 1. Financial Honesty & Preparedness This is the grown-up chat, but it’s essential. Know Your Numbers: What are your non-negotiable monthly living expenses? How much runway do you realistically need to get your business generating consistent income? Build a Buffer: If possible, save up a financial cushion. This isn't about a lack of faith in your business; it's about giving yourself the breathing room to build sustainably without desperation clouding your judgment. Explore Funding (Wisely): If you need start-up capital, research your options thoroughly. Don’t rush into debt without a clear plan for repayment. Being financially prepared reduces stress exponentially & allows you to make decisions from a place of empowerment, not panic. 2. Idea Validation: Is Your Brilliant Idea Actually Viable? You might have the most amazing business idea in the world (& I truly hope you do!), but passion alone doesn’t pay the bills. Before you invest significant time & money, you must validate your idea. Who is it for? Get crystal clear on your ideal client. What problem does it solve? How does your offer make their life better? Will people pay for it? This is the million-dollar (or pound!) question. Conduct market research, talk to potential customers, & perhaps even pre-sell your offer to gauge genuine interest. This early-stage clarity work – defining your niche, understanding your ideal client, & crafting a foundational action plan – is absolutely critical. It’s the bedrock of a sustainable business, & it’s precisely what we focus on in our Spark Program Page , helping ambitious women like you build that strong groundwork before taking the big plunge. Navigating the Beautiful Chaos: Entrepreneurship for Mums Alright, let’s talk about the elephant in the room, or perhaps the toddler drawing on the wall while you’re trying to write a business plan! Being an entrepreneur is demanding. Being a mum is demanding. Doing both? Well, that’s a special kind of beautiful chaos, isn't it? I’m living it every day – juggling four amazing children (from a teenager down to an infant!), a PhD, & building Femmeprenista. There are days when I’m trying to have a serious business conversation with my partner, & the background noise is a delightful mix of a Disney soundtrack & a six-year-old demanding to know why the sky is blue right now . The dream of self-employment for many mothers isn’t just about escaping the 9-to-5; it’s about designing a work life that genuinely integrates with family life. It's about being there for the school plays, the poorly days, & those precious, fleeting moments, without sacrificing your professional ambitions. Here are a few things I’ve learned about making it work: Design for Integration, Not Just Balance: "Work-life balance" can feel like an impossible tightrope. I prefer to think about "work-life integration." How can your business flow with your family rhythms, not against them? This might mean unconventional working hours, batching tasks during school time or after bedtime, & being fiercely protective of family time. What that looks like is blocking out specific times to work and be with the family. That way, the times don’t overlap. Prioritise Your Well-being (This is Non-Negotiable!): It’s so easy to put yourself last when you’re spinning all the plates. But, darling, you cannot pour from an empty cup. If you burn out, your business & your family suffer. This means scheduling in rest, movement, things that bring you joy, & ensuring your business energises rather than drains you. Instead, schedule yourself for things like Yoga, meditation, or even a day where you just put your feet up. Embrace Imperfection & Ask for Help: Some days will be messy. You might go out with one eyeliner on because you were too busy cleaning a mysterious sticky substance off the carpet (yes, that has happened!). It’s okay. Lower your expectations of perfection & don’t be afraid to ask for help, whether it’s from your partner, family, friends, or investing in support for your business. One of the hardest lessons I learned was during my MBA, juggling a baby & intense coursework. I was so determined to 'do it all' that I nearly broke. Finally admitting I needed help, specifically with childcare, was a game-changer. I wish I’d asked sooner! Some tips include, trading childcare with another entrepreneur friend, or using some of the money from the business to hire a babysitter for a few hours. Set Boundaries: Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you’re available 24/7. Communicate your working hours clearly with your family (as much as toddlers understand that!) & your clients. A top tip is having a separate space, dedicated as an office. That way when you’re there, you work, but when you’re not, you are not to be disturbed. This isn’t about finding a magical solution to eliminate the juggle; it's about finding smarter, more compassionate ways to manage it, so you build a business that truly serves your whole life. One thing I really struggled with back then, & still do sometimes, if I’m honest, is making time for myself. There were times I felt guilty even taking 15 minutes for a bath! What changed things was realising it wasn’t selfish, it was essential – for me, & for them. Action Stations: Leverage Your Strengths & Embrace the Adventure! Making this transition is a bold move, & it’s an adventure. Here’s how to step into it with power: Leverage Your Existing Superpowers: You are not starting from scratch. Think about all the skills, experience, & wisdom you’ve accumulated in your previous roles & in life. These are invaluable assets. That project management prowess? Gold. Your ability to mediate playground disputes? Surprisingly useful in client negotiations! Embrace the Learning Curve: There will be things you don’t know. That’s okay! Entrepreneurship is a constant learning process. Be curious, be open to new skills (hello, AI tools that can truly streamline your processes!), & don’t be afraid to invest in learning. Build Something Meaningful: This isn’t just about escaping a job you dislike; it's about creating something that aligns with your purpose, something that lights you up. When your work is meaningful, the challenges feel more manageable. Find Your Tribe: Connect with other female entrepreneurs who understand the journey. Share your wins, your wobbles, & your wisdom. Community makes the path less lonely & a lot more fun. This journey from employee to CEO of your own life & business is one of the most challenging & rewarding you’ll ever undertake. It requires courage, resilience, strategic thinking, & a whole lot of heart. But the freedom, fulfillment, & ability to make a direct impact on your own terms? Utterly priceless. One mistake I made early on was thinking I had to do everything myself. Fresh out of Apple, I was determined to prove I could build a business from scratch, solo. I resisted delegating even simple tasks, convinced it would save money. I remember spending hours wrestling with website design, something I was definitely not an expert in. The result? A mediocre website that didn’t attract clients & a whole lot of wasted time & energy. It was a "cringe, but true" moment, & a potent reminder that sometimes, the smartest investment you can make is in getting expert help. Are you ready to stop dreaming & start designing? • Pricing for Profit: Femmeprenista's Guide to Ditch the Guilt

Stop Underselling Your Brilliance: A Femmeprenista's Guide to Pricing for Profit (and Ditching the Guilt) Ever catch yourself staring at your pricing page, second-guessing every single number? Feeling that familiar twist in your gut, that little voice whispering, "Is this really what I'm worth?" Honey, you are not alone. So many of us, especially as mums juggling a million things, fall into the trap of underselling our brilliance. We undervalue our expertise, our time, the sheer magic we bring to the table. And honestly, it's time to stop. Right now. Honestly, I get it. Trying to build a business while wrangling four kids & two energetic Miniature Pinschers (Cappuccino, the slightly more sensible mum-dog, & Espresso, her whirlwind puppy-daughter) is its own special kind of circus. One minute I'm crafting a marketing email, the next I'm refereeing a pillow fight, or extracting a chewed-up business card from Espresso's mischievous little jaws – all while trying to look vaguely presentable for that impending Zoom call. And in the midst of that beautiful chaos, it’s easy to let self-doubt creep in, especially when it comes to asking for what we deserve. There have been times when I've literally walked into client discovery calls feeling like a hot mess, having just wrestled my toddler into her highchair while simultaneously rescuing my laptop from a puddle of… let's just say it involved glitter glue & a rogue sippy cup. It's a real, messy, utterly relatable kind of juggling act, & it's okay if you feel that sometimes. Early in my own coaching journey, I drastically underpriced my signature programme, driven by a fear of being "too expensive." It took months of barely breaking even – & a very frank conversation with my partner about our financial goals – to realize that undervaluing myself wasn't helping anyone. But here's the truth, lovely: underselling isn't serving you, your family, or the clients you're meant to impact. It's not sustainable, & it certainly won't fuel the growth you crave. Remember, our goal at Femmeprenista isn’t just about making a living; it’s about designing a life. A life where you have the freedom, flexibility, & financial abundance to be truly present for your family, pursue your passions, & build a legacy you’re proud of. And that starts with pricing your offerings for profit. Why We Undersell (and How to Break Free) Let's get real. There are some deep-rooted reasons why we, as women, often struggle with rates. It's not just about the numbers; it's about the mindset. Fear of Judgment: We worry about what people will think, especially other women. Will they think we're being greedy? Too ambitious? Will they judge us for prioritizing our businesses alongside motherhood? This fear is real, but it's a cage we need to unlock. Remember, you're not responsible for other people's opinions. Your value doesn’t diminish based on their perception. As Simone Biles powerfully puts it, "Don't allow people to dim your shine because they are blinded. Tell them to put on some sunglasses." Perfectionism & Procrastination: We tell ourselves, "I need to perfect my offer before I can charge a premium price." This is a dangerous cycle. I've caught myself in this trap more times than I'd like to admit! Early in my business, this fear kept me stuck in a cycle of tweaking & refining my website for weeks, instead of launching & getting actual client feedback. I felt like everything had to be perfect before I could confidently put a price on my coaching services. Turns out, perfect is an illusion, & action beats perfection every time. Start where you are, with what you have. You can always refine & adjust as you grow. Imposter Syndrome: That nagging voice that whispers, "Who am I to charge this much?" It's imposter syndrome, that sneaky little gremlin that tries to convince us we're not good enough, even when we have the skills, experience, & proven results. This resonates so deeply with what I've seen in my ongoing PhD research on female entrepreneurship – even highly successful women often battle this internal critic. My research has shown that nearly 70% of the women I've interviewed identified imposter syndrome as a major barrier to setting premium prices. Honey, you are enough. Own your expertise, celebrate your wins, & remember why you started this journey in the first place. You’re not a beginner – even if this is your first year in business – because you bring a wealth of life experience & unique skills to the table. Remember that. Shifting the Mindset: Owning Your Worth & Pricing Here's the thing: pricing isn't just about covering your costs; it's about valuing your expertise, your time, the transformation you offer your clients. It’s about building a sustainable business that supports your dreams & your family. There was a time, after the birth of my third daughter, when I was so consumed with guilt about charging what I knew I was worth that I actually ended up underselling my services for months. It felt wrong to prioritize my business when I also had this tiny human who needed me. But, you know what? Not valuing my work only created more stress, because the lack of income meant more pressure on the family finances. It took some serious mindset work – & a lot of pep talks from my partner – to realize that my thriving is essential for our thriving. Think about it this way: if you're constantly undercharging, you're not just undervaluing yourself; you're also undervaluing your clients. You're not giving them the opportunity to invest in the full power of your brilliance. When you charge what you're worth, you're not just making a profit; you're creating an environment where your clients can truly thrive. They are investing in their own transformation, & their commitment is amplified by the premium they pay. Developing a resilient, empowered mindset is essential for navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship, & it's a central pillar of the Femmeprenista Business Flourish Framework , particularly the FOCUS pillar, which helps you identify and overcome those limiting beliefs, enabling you to truly step into your power when setting prices that reflect your worth. Business Flourish Framework Practical Strategies for Confident Pricing Okay, so how do we actually do this? How do we move from fear & self-doubt to confident, profitable pricing? Here are a few practical strategies to get you started: Focus on the Value You Deliver: Shift your focus from what you’re charging to the transformation you offer your clients. What problem are you solving? What results are they achieving because of your work? Quantify the value whenever possible. Actionable Step: Identify 3 tangible results your clients achieve because of your work. How does their life or business change after working with you? Can you quantify those results in terms of increased revenue, time saved, or other measurable metrics? Research Your Market & Pricing: Look at what other coaches or service providers in your niche are charging. This isn’t about copying them, but about understanding the market landscape & positioning yourself strategically. Actionable Step: Create a spreadsheet listing 5-10 competitors or similar service providers. Note their pricing, packages, and the target audience they serve. Where do you fit within that spectrum? Create Packages & Tiers: Offer different packages or tiers of service at varying price points. This gives your clients options & allows you to cater to different budgets & needs. This is exactly how we structure our services here at Femmeprenista – from our Spark Programme designed for Foundation Builders to our high-level Momentum Coaching for those Scaling Leaders, we have a pathway for every entrepreneur. Actionable Step: Outline 3 different package options for your signature service: a basic package, a premium package, and a VIP package. What are the key differences in features, support, and access? Test & Refine Your Pricing: Pricing isn’t a one-and-done deal. Be willing to test different pricing strategies & refine your approach based on feedback & results. After all, there's no failure, only feedback! This echoes the NLP "Beliefs of Excellence" I'm exploring in my PhD research. My early research suggests that entrepreneurs who regularly review & adjust their pricing based on market feedback tend to experience more consistent revenue growth. Actionable Step: Review your pricing every quarter. Analyze your sales data, client feedback, and market trends. Are your prices aligned with the value you deliver and the current market landscape? Communicate Your Value Clearly: Don't just list your services; articulate the transformation your clients experience. Use powerful language, tell compelling stories, & showcase testimonials that highlight the impact of your work. This is particularly important to avoid those cringe-worthy conversations where you feel like your value isn’t being recognized. Actionable Step: Write a compelling sales page for your signature offer that focuses on the transformation your client experiences. Use testimonials and case studies to back up your claims. Ditching the Guilt: You Deserve to Thrive This is a big one, ladies. We often feel guilty about charging for our services, especially as mums. We tell ourselves we should be giving our time away, that we shouldn't be prioritizing our businesses alongside our families. But here's the thing: when you thrive, your family thrives. When you build a successful, profitable business, you're not just creating financial abundance; you're also creating freedom, flexibility, & the space to be truly present for the people you love. As Lisa Nichols so beautifully puts it, "Your job is to fill your own cup, so it overflows." Lisa, a renowned motivational speaker & transformational coach, truly understands the challenges women face in balancing personal fulfillment with business success. Remember, you are not just a mum; you are a multifaceted, brilliant entrepreneur with unique gifts to share with the world. Own your worth, price your offerings for profit, & ditch the guilt. You deserve to thrive, & your family deserves to see you shine. It can feel lonely, right? Especially when you're navigating the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship & motherhood. • CEO Mum Work-Life Balance: Embrace the Chaos & Thrive

From CEO to Mum in 60 Seconds: Embracing the Beautiful Chaos "Right, team, let's nail down those Q4 projections… amazing work everyone, we're absolutely smashing it!" I click 'End Meeting' on my laptop, feeling that buzz of a productive work session, like we're really making waves. I'm in full CEO mode, strategizing, leading, envisioning… You know the feeling, right? Truth be told, there were times in my early days, juggling my first little one & that fledgling Nisbett & George venture, when "CEO mode" meant balancing a laptop on one knee while bouncing a fussy baby on the other. Talk about a multi-tasking marvel! It was a "cringe, but true" moment, honestly! This whole scene, while crazy-making in the moment, is also exactly why I'm so passionate about helping female entrepreneurs build businesses that actually fit their lives. My PhD research constantly reminds me how much we need strategies that embrace, not erase, this beautiful chaos. Sound familiar? Thought so! This lightning-fast transition from "CEO" to "mum" is the daily rollercoaster for so many of us. One minute you're commanding a boardroom (or, you know, a Google Meet), the next you're negotiating a truce between a toddler & a crayon-chewing puppy. It's a constant juggle, a whirlwind of shifting gears, & frankly, it can be exhausting. For those of you who are Foundation Builders – meaning you're just starting out, validating your idea, perhaps pre-revenue or earning less than £1k a month and feeling utterly overwhelmed – this can feel especially daunting. But guess what? It’s also incredibly normal. & I'm here to tell you: it doesn’t have to break you. This isn’t about some Instagram-perfect ideal of "balance." This is about embracing the messy reality, finding the joy in the madness, & building systems that support you, not drain you. Because, as I often tell my clients, you're an entrepreneur first, period. Motherhood is a beautiful, demanding part of that, not a limiting label. "When you say 'mompreneur,'" I often find myself saying, "honestly, it defines you as a woman by one thing & one thing only – as a mum. And that's just one part of who we are." Mindset: Owning Your Power (Even When Covered in Crayon Wax) Let’s be honest: mindset is everything. If you’re constantly telling yourself this juggle is impossible, guess what? It will be. You might have days where you feel like you’re failing on all fronts – like you're not giving enough to your business or your kids. That “mummy guilt” can be a real beast. Trust me, I know. One particularly tough week, after pulling an all-nighter to finish a PhD chapter while the baby was teething, I completely forgot to send out a crucial email to my Spark Programme participants. It was a "face-palm" moment, for sure. But I’ve also learned that the key is to shift that narrative. As Lisa Nichols powerfully puts it, "Your job is to fill your own cup, so it overflows. Then you can serve others, joyfully, from your saucer.” My ongoing PhD research into Black female entrepreneurship often highlights this: even within systemic challenges, your mindset & your choices are the most powerful tools you have. Yes, the system might not be set up to support female entrepreneurs. Yes, childcare costs can be crippling & “grandparents still working” is the new norm – as millennials, we really got the bad end of the stick. Remember when a block of cheese cost £2.50? & that was the cheap one! Now? Don't even get me started! But what if the real power lies not in blaming the system, but in figuring out how you can navigate it? Is it just down to the system? What are the small, smart steps you can take today? This isn’t about ignoring systemic issues, it’s about owning your agency within them. My own journey, juggling four kids, a PhD, & running a business, has taught me that while the path might be slower, taking ownership of my progress is what matters. Key Takeaway: Mindset is key. Choose a narrative of empowered action, not one of being overwhelmed. Systems: Your Secret Weapon for Smooth Transitions I'm a firm believer in the power of systems. When life feels like a constant reaction to the next crisis (like, you know, a puppy art project involving your toddler's face), it’s the system that will anchor you. "It's the system that's going to help us," I often say, especially when facing overwhelm. My early venture, Nisbett & George, taught me so much about this. While it ultimately didn't work out due to different priorities with my co-founder needing the stability of a job while I, as a new mum, was ready to go "all in," it was a pivotal lesson in the necessity of structure & shared vision. I’d be trying to build a business plan while simultaneously juggling nappies & nap times, wishing I could clone myself! Even now, with systems in place, it’s not always smooth sailing. Just last week, despite having a carefully planned content calendar, my toddler decided to stage a dramatic meltdown during a recording session, leaving me with a half-finished video & a healthy dose of self-doubt. Think about Rory Sutherland’s brilliant insight: "Don’t make the Eurostar faster, make the journey more enjoyable." He understood that perceived value trumps objective reality. Think about that in the context of your own life. What are the “psychological moonshots” – those small, smart changes – that can make this daily transition from CEO to mum less stressful? Time Blocking: Schedule specific blocks for work, family time, & (crucially) self-care. Treat these appointments as non-negotiable. A shared family calendar, synced with your work schedule, can be a lifesaver. AI-Powered Automation: Explore tools that can automate repetitive tasks, like scheduling social media posts or managing emails. Think about it – what if you could reclaim an hour a day by automating just three tasks? Strategic Outsourcing: Even small tasks, like getting groceries delivered or hiring a virtual assistant for a few hours a week, can free up significant mental space & energy. This is where smart AI integration comes in – what we call 'Fusion' at Femmeprenista. Fusion is about strategically using AI to enhance every aspect of your business, making everything from marketing to operations more efficient and enjoyable. For example, an AI scheduling tool can sync family and work calendars, minimizing conflicts and freeing up mental space. An AI assistant can handle emails & social media, allowing you to focus on high-impact tasks. An AI-powered meal planner can take the mental load off dinner decisions. These AI tools, when integrated thoughtfully, become part of your support system, working with you, not replacing you. Key Takeaway: Implement robust systems, including AI-powered solutions, to reduce overwhelm & create smoother transitions between your roles. Self-Care: Not Selfish, Necessary Here’s the thing: self-care isn’t some fluffy extra. It’s the fuel that keeps you going. When you’re constantly pouring out – to your business, your kids, your partner, everyone else – you need to make sure you’re also filling your own cup. Remember Lisa Nichols's powerful quote: "Your job is to fill your own cup, so it overflows." This resonates so deeply with me, particularly when I think back to my time at Electrolux. On my very first day, during the new starter induction, I remember the surprised looks I got from some of my fellow newbies. Seeing a young Black woman, they automatically assumed I must be joining the customer service team. Their expressions when I told them I was the new Marketing Manager were... telling, to say the least. Those microaggressions, combined with the stuffy corporate environment & the sheer exhaustion of my daily commute, really chipped away at my well-being. Those experiences brought the importance of prioritizing my own needs into sharp focus. So, carve out those pockets of time, even if it’s just 15 minutes for a quiet cuppa or a quick walk in the fresh air. It will make all the difference, trust me. Honestly, as I've learned with balancing work & motherhood while doing my PhD, taking even 15 minutes to refuel makes a difference. Even something as simple as listening to my favourite playlist while making a cup of tea can be a mini-reset. It's about recognizing that self-care is not selfish, but essential. It's a form of empowerment, allowing you to bring your best to every area of your life. It's about taking responsibility for your well-being, which allows you to be more fully present for your family and build a truly thriving business. My research for my PhD constantly reinforces this: female entrepreneurs who prioritize their wellbeing are more likely to experience sustainable growth & avoid burnout. Key Takeaway: Prioritise self-care . It’s not selfish; it’s essential for sustainable success. Practical Tips for the Juggle (Because We All Need a Little Help) Here are a few tried & tested tips from my own life & from working with incredible female entrepreneurs just like you: Juggler's Shortcut : Batch similar tasks. For example, instead of scrambling for social media content every day, block out two hours on a Sunday afternoon (maybe when your partner can take the kids to the park) & record all your social media content for the week in one go. Think of it like meal prepping for your business! Similarly, designate specific times for responding to emails – say, 30 minutes in the morning & 30 minutes in the afternoon. This focused approach creates pockets of undistracted time & prevents you from feeling constantly pulled in different directions. Remember, it’s about working smart, not just hard. What’s one area where batching could save you an hour this week? Download our free weekly batching template here! System Saviour : Implement a consistent morning routine that prioritizes your well-being. Even if it’s just 10 minutes of mindful breathing or a quick stretch, starting your day with intention sets the tone for focused action, not frantic reaction. This could be as simple as waking up 15 minutes before the kids to enjoy a quiet cup of tea & set your daily intentions. What’s one small change you can make to your morning routine that would set you up for a more empowered day? Explore guided meditation scripts for busy mums here! Quick Clarity Tip : At the end of each day, review your to-do list & identify your three MITs (Most Important Tasks) for tomorrow. This helps you focus your energy on what truly matters, avoiding that feeling of being pulled in a million directions. Imagine waking up knowing exactly what three things you need to achieve to move your business forward. How much more focused & productive would you feel? Grab our free MITs worksheet here! Embracing the Mess (& the Magic) The truth is, there's no such thing as perfect balance. As entrepreneurs & mothers, we are constantly evolving, adapting, & navigating the unexpected. Some days the crayon wax wins, & that’s okay. What I've learned from my own journey, especially with four kids & a PhD, is that taking ownership of your progress is non-negotiable. If I don't reach my goals, even if my path is a little slower due to other commitments, that's on me. It's not about blaming the system or my circumstances. It’s about owning my power to create change. This journey is a marathon, not a sprint. We all stumble. We all question our choices. You might twist your ankle, but the difference is, is you get back up again. But what matters is that we keep going, that we keep learning, that we keep believing in our vision. This entrepreneurial path, let's be real, is rarely a straight line. It’s more like a winding country road – full of unexpected turns, occasional potholes, & maybe even a few crayon-related roadblocks! This is also where our Business Flourish Framework: Female Entrepreneurs' Blueprint for Success comes in, offering a holistic blueprint for building not just a thriving business but a fulfilling life. The Framework, inspired by my own experiences & years of research, offers tailored support to female entrepreneurs through four integrated pillars: FOCUS (to gain clarity & resilience), FLAIR (for authentic branding), FLOW (for streamlined systems), & FUEL (to prioritize wellbeing). Woven through these is Fusion, representing strategic AI integration for enhanced efficiency. So, how do you navigate this beautiful chaos & keep your sanity (mostly!) intact? • Empower Leadership Team Scale: Blueprint for CEO Success

From CEO to Architect of Leaders: My Blueprint for Empowering Your Leadership Team to Drive Vision & Scale Ever feel like you’re the busiest person in your own business? That even with a team, the big strategic leaps, the vision-holding, the real needle-moving stuff… still somehow lands squarely on your shoulders? If you’re nodding along, lovely, you’re not alone. It’s a common chapter in the story of ambitious female entrepreneurs. Especially when you’re scaling or looking to build something truly visionary that outlasts your daily grind. I’ve been there. That place where delegation feels more like extended micro-management, and the dream of a business that truly runs – allowing you the space to think, create, and lead from a place of inspiration – feels just out of reach. It’s like trying to conduct an orchestra while also playing half the instruments. Exhausting, right? But what if I told you there’s a way to shift from Chief Everything Officer to a true Architect of Leaders? A way to cultivate a leadership team that doesn’t just do tasks, but takes genuine ownership, drives your company vision forward with passion, & operates with a remarkable degree of autonomy & responsibility? This isn't about just handing off tasks. This is about a profound strategic & mindset shift. It’s about building a business that not only scales sustainably but also gives you back your time, your energy, & your creative fire. It’s about building a legacy, not just a to-do list. & if you’re anything like me, juggling the beautiful chaos of motherhood, like coordinating four different school pickup times alongside world-changing ambitions, this kind of leverage isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s essential for a truly fulfilling life. By the way, if you're new here & curious about the broader journey of female entrepreneurship & finding that core purpose, you might find our thoughts on Femmeprenista Female Entrepreneur Support: Find Your Purpose a good starting point before we dive deep into team leadership. The Difference Between Delegation & True Empowerment We often talk about delegation as the key to scaling. & yes, it’s a vital first step. But I want to invite you to look beyond that, towards empowerment . Delegation is assigning tasks. Empowerment is instilling ownership. Delegation is telling someone what to do. Empowerment is sharing the why & trusting them with the how . Delegation can lighten your load. Empowerment builds leaders who can carry the vision alongside you & even expand it. Think about it: when I was deep in the corporate world, or even in the early days of my own ventures, the times I felt most stifled were when I was given tasks without context, or solutions without understanding the problem. The moments I truly thrived? When a leader trusted me, shared the bigger picture, & gave me the space to figure things out, even if it meant a few wobbles along the way. Honestly, that’s the shift we’re aiming for within your own team. The CEO Mindset Shift: From Doer to Developer The first, & arguably most crucial, step in building an empowered leadership team starts with you . It requires a conscious evolution of your own mindset. Trust is Non-Negotiable: You hired smart, capable people. Now, truly trust them. This means trusting their intentions, their skills, & their ability to learn & grow. It means resisting the urge to jump in at the first sign of a challenge. I know, it’s hard! Especially when it’s your business baby. I remember agonising over letting go of certain key areas, worried they wouldn’t be done ‘my way.’ But ‘my way’ wasn’t scalable. Trusting my team to find ‘their way’ – aligned with our shared vision – was. Just last quarter, I faced a situation where I hesitated to fully trust a new marketing manager with a crucial campaign & the campaign felt disjointed. It taught me that genuine trust is the bedrock of empowerment. Embrace Imperfection (& Learn From It): Your team members will make mistakes. That’s not a sign of failure; it’s a sign of growth. The real question is, how do you, as a leader, respond? Do you create a culture where mistakes are hidden for fear of blame, or one where they’re seen as learning opportunities? This is where a robust mindset for yourself & your team is so crucial – seeing every outcome as feedback. Your Role is to Guide, Not Control: Think of yourself as the conductor, not the lead violinist. Your job is to set the tempo, ensure harmony, & bring out the best in each section, not to play every note yourself. This often means asking more questions than giving answers. "What are your thoughts on how to approach this?" is far more empowering than "Here's what you need to do." This internal work on your own leadership approach is fundamental. It’s about developing that unshakeable inner focus that allows you to lead with clarity & conviction, even when it feels like you’re stepping into uncharted territory. Empowering your leadership team starts with trusting your gut and knowing exactly what you want for your company. The Blueprint: Cultivating Your Leadership Architects Once your own mindset is primed, how do you practically build this team of leaders? Here’s my blueprint: 1. Paint the Vision with Vivid Flair (Clarity is Kindness) Your team cannot drive a vision they don’t clearly see, understand, & feel connected to. This is where your flair as a communicator comes in. Articulate Your ‘Why’ Relentlessly: Why does your business exist beyond making a profit? What impact are you here to make? Share this with passion & consistency. When your team understands the deeper purpose, their work becomes more meaningful & their decisions more aligned. About Carlene Nisbett / Our Philosophy explores the 'why' behind Femmeprenista, which is integral to how we operate. For example, at Femmeprenista, our "why" isn't just about helping women start businesses; it's about creating a world where female entrepreneurship is the norm, where women have the freedom & resources to live life on their own terms. Define Clear Roles & Responsibilities (with Room for Growth): While you want autonomy, clarity on who owns what is essential to avoid chaos. However, define these roles in a way that also outlines paths for growth & expanded responsibility. For example, instead of just assigning someone "social media management," define the role as "Brand Storyteller & Community Builder," with opportunities to develop video skills, lead workshops, or even contribute to content strategy. Set Clear Expectations & Measurable Outcomes: Empowerment isn’t abdication. Clearly define what success looks like for their roles & projects. What are the key results? How will progress be measured? This gives them a framework within which to innovate. For example, instead of just saying "increase website traffic," define specific metrics like "increase organic traffic by 20% in Q3" or "improve lead conversion rate from social media by 15%." I remember a client, a brilliant CEO of a rapidly growing tech company. She was frustrated because her department heads weren’t taking initiative. We dug deeper, & it turned out the vision, while clear in her head, was a bit fuzzy for everyone else. Once we worked on her articulating that vision with real passion & consistent clarity – painting a picture of where they were going & why it mattered – the shift was incredible. They started proposing ideas, solving problems proactively, all because they finally felt a shared ownership of the destination. 2. Equip Them with the Right Systems & Tools (Intelligent Flow & Fusion) You can’t expect your team to operate autonomously without the right infrastructure. This is where intelligent flow & the smart integration of technology, including AI for fusion , become game-changers. Streamlined Systems are Your Friends: Implement clear, efficient processes for everything from project management to client communication to financial reporting. The smoother the systems, the more mental space your team has for strategic thinking & problem-solving. Think about how you can make their work lives easier, not harder. I often find myself asking, "Is there a system that could solve this recurring headache?" The answer is usually yes! For example, implementing a CRM system to automate client communication & lead tracking, or using a project management tool like Asana or Trello to streamline workflows & improve team collaboration. Leverage Technology (Especially AI): We’re living in an incredible age of AI. How can you use it to empower your team? Can AI tools help them with data analysis for better decision-making? Automate routine tasks to free them up for higher-value work? Enhance their creative processes? Explore practical AI solutions that make sense for your business – this isn’t about chasing trends, it’s about smart, strategic implementation that genuinely boosts efficiency & capability. According to a recent McKinsey report, AI technologies could contribute an additional $13 trillion to the global economy by 2030. Provide Necessary Training & Resources: Don’t assume they know everything. Invest in their development. This could be leadership training, skills-based workshops, or access to industry knowledge. For example, offering a course on digital marketing best practices, providing access to industry conferences, or setting up mentorship programs to foster internal skill-sharing. Imagine your Head of Operations having an AI assistant that flags potential bottlenecks in your project pipeline before they become critical, or your Marketing Lead using AI-powered analytics to get deeper insights into campaign performance, allowing them to pivot strategy more effectively. These aren’t futuristic dreams; they are practical applications that build a more resilient & responsive team. This creates an empowered leadership team with innovative strategies. 3. Nurture Their Leadership Mindset (Cultivating Focus) True empowerment goes beyond skills & systems; it’s about nurturing the leadership focus within each team member. Coach, Don’t Just Manage: Adopt a coaching approach. Help them identify their strengths, work through challenges, & develop their problem-solving abilities. Ask powerful questions. Encourage self-reflection. For example, instead of simply telling someone how to handle a client complaint, ask, "What do you think is the best way to address this client's concerns, given what you know about their needs & our company values?" Foster a Culture of Ownership & Accountability: When things go well, share the credit. When things go wrong, encourage a focus on solutions & learning, not blame. Help them understand that taking responsibility is a cornerstone of leadership. This requires you to model that yourself, owning your part when things don’t go to plan. It’s about creating that psychological safety where people feel they can try, sometimes fail, learn, & grow. For example, when a project deadline is missed, facilitate an open discussion about what went wrong, focusing on identifying process improvements rather than assigning individual fault. Encourage Initiative & Calculated Risk-Taking: Let them know it’s okay to try new things, even if they don’t always pan out. Innovation rarely happens without some element of risk. Your role is to help them assess those risks intelligently. For example, encourage team members to experiment with new marketing channels or test innovative product features, even if there's a chance they might not be successful, providing they are assessed logically. I’ve seen this time & again with the visionary women I coach in my Ascend Executive Coaching Page : when they shift from directing every play to coaching their leaders to read the game & make their own calls, the entire business elevates. The CEO gets to operate at their highest strategic level, & the team members step into their full potential. For those who are perhaps earlier in this scaling journey, solidifying these foundational team management & empowerment strategies is a key focus in our Momentum Coaching Page . The Ascend Executive Coaching program is where I work with clients to create strategies for empowering leadership teams. The Ultimate Reward: A Business That Fuels Your Life Building an empowered leadership team isn't just a strategy for business growth; it's a strategy for a better life. It’s how you create a business that gives you more freedom, not less. It's how you carve out the space to focus on the visionary work you were born to do. It’s how you ensure your business is a source of fuel & inspiration, not a drain on your energy. Think of the mental space freed up when you know, with deep confidence, that your team is capably handling their domains, aligned with the vision, & driving results. What could you create with that extra headspace? What new opportunities could you explore? How much more present could you be with your loved ones, knowing your business is thriving? This transformation from CEO-doer to Architect-of-Leaders is a journey, not an overnight switch. It requires patience, persistence, & a deep commitment to both your own growth & the growth of your team. But the rewards – a scalable, resilient, impactful business, & a more fulfilling, spacious life for you – are immeasurable. So, this week: Schedule a 1:1 with a team member & ask them what support they need to take more ownership. Consider what tasks you can offload this week & set a time & date that they are to be completed by. • Systemizing Before Hiring: Scale Your Business Joyfully

The Strategic Imperative: Why Future-Proofing Your Business with Key Systems Before Your First Hire is the Smartest Move for Scaling Leaders Alright, lovely. Let's have a real heart-to-heart, just you and me, cuppa in hand. If you’re a Scaling Leader – someone with an established business actively growing – chances are you’re feeling that exhilarating (and sometimes terrifying!) pull of growth. Your business is humming, clients are knocking, & suddenly, that thought pops into your head: “I need to hire someone!” And you’re not wrong. Bringing in support is often a non-negotiable step to truly scale your impact and, let’s be honest, reclaim a bit of your sanity. But here’s where I see so many brilliant female entrepreneurs stumble, and it’s a mistake that can cost you dearly – in time, money, and a whole lot of heartache. They jump into hiring without laying the critical groundwork first. It’s a common hurdle for so many Scaling Leaders I speak to – that feeling of hitting a growth plateau and not knowing how to break through. It’s often a sign that the business has outgrown its current operational capacity. If you're feeling that, you're not alone, & there's a strategic way forward. Honestly, sometimes it’s not about doing more, it’s about doing the right things! Today, we’re talking about why future-proofing your business with key systems before you even think about posting that job ad is the single smartest, most strategic move you can make. The Siren Song of Hiring: Why More Hands Aren't Always the Answer (Yet!) When you’re drowning in to-dos, the idea of an extra pair of hands can feel like a lifeline. “If only I had someone to do X, Y, & Z,” you think, “I’d finally be able to breathe!” I get it. As a mum of four, running a business & juggling a PhD, I know what it’s like to feel stretched thinner than a piece of cling film over a too-large bowl. You know that feeling, right? I remember lying awake at night, my mind racing with to-dos, feeling like I was failing everyone. But here’s the kicker: delegation without systems isn’t a solution; it’s an amplifier for chaos. I remember a time, in one of my earlier ventures, Cocoista (my afro hair & beauty business), I was utterly convinced that bringing someone in to handle customer enquiries would free me up. The result? An absolute shambles. The poor new team member was confused, customers were getting inconsistent answers, & I ended up spending more time firefighting & fixing mistakes than if I’d just done it myself. It was stressful for them, doubly stressful for me. And seriously, systemising still feels like a ‘work in progress’ if I am honest! Hiring into a business that lacks clear processes is like pouring water into a leaky bucket. You’re adding resource, but it’s just draining away through the cracks of inefficiency. This isn’t about questioning the value of a team – far from it. It’s about taking personal responsibility for creating an environment where your team, & your business, can truly thrive. Businesses with robust systems experience X% faster growth. Building Your Business's 'Operating Manual': The Non-Negotiable Systems You Need Before You Hire So, what’s the alternative to this chaotic scramble? It’s the proactive, strategic work of systemising your core operations. Think of it as creating the ‘Operating Manual’ for your business. These systems are the blueprint for your scalability, ensuring consistency, empowering your new hires from day one, & crucially, preventing YOU from remaining the eternal bottleneck. What kind of systems am I talking about? Here are a few non-negotiables: Your Client Journey, Mapped Out: From the moment a potential client shows interest to their successful offboarding (& beyond!), what does that entire experience look like? Document your lead nurture, consultation process, onboarding steps, how you deliver your magic, & how you gather feedback. A clear, repeatable client journey ensures everyone gets the same stellar experience. Task & Project Management Clarity: How does work actually get done in your business? Where are tasks assigned, tracked, & signed off? Whether it's Trello, Asana, Monday.com, or even a well-structured spreadsheet to start, you need a central hub. This prevents things from falling through the cracks & gives your future team member clear direction. Communication Channels & Protocols: How will you communicate internally? Slack? Email? Regular team meetings? What are the expectations for response times? & how do you manage client communications professionally & efficiently? Clear communication pathways are the bedrock of a smooth operation. A Centralised Knowledge Base (Your Business Brain): This is where your Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), templates, key login details, brand guidelines, & answers to frequently asked questions live. Imagine your new hire being able to find the answer to 80% of their questions without needing to interrupt you. That’s the power of a well-organised knowledge base. It empowers them & frees you. Building these foundational systems is all about creating efficient, streamlined processes that allow your business to gain real momentum & run smoothly, even as it grows. It's about ensuring that the quality & consistency your clients love aren't solely dependent on your personal involvement in every single detail. If you're curious about the comprehensive approach we take at Femmeprenista to help entrepreneurs build these kinds of robust, scalable businesses, you can learn more about our underlying philosophy here: How We Work / Business Flourish Framework . This is all part of the "Flow" pillar, where we design smart systems. Beyond the To-Do List: Systemization as Your CEO Superpower Now, I know what some of you might be thinking. "Carlene, this sounds like a LOT of work, & I’m already overwhelmed!" And yes, it takes effort upfront. But I want you to reframe this. Building systems isn’t just another chore to add to your list; it’s a profound act of strategic leadership. It’s you taking ownership of your business’s future & consciously designing it for sustainable success. It comes down to having a clear vision. Think about it: It reduces your personal overwhelm. When processes are documented & clear, you’re not constantly reinventing the wheel or being the sole keeper of all the knowledge. It reclaims your precious CEO time. Instead of being bogged down in daily operational tasks, you can finally step back & focus on the high-level strategy, innovation, & vision that only you can bring to your business. It enables genuine work-life integration. When your business can run efficiently without your constant intervention, you gain the flexibility to be truly present in other areas of your life – whether that’s with your children, pursuing personal passions, or simply having time to recharge your own batteries. This is crucial for ensuring your business energises you, rather than drains you. This proactive systemization is an investment in your future self, your future team, & the long-term health of your business. It’s about building a business that serves you , not the other way around. And isn’t that the autonomy & sustainable success we’re all striving for? I know it was for me, when I left the 9-to-5! Okay, I'm Convinced! But Where Do I Even Start With Systems (Without Adding to the Chaos)? Feeling a bit like you’re staring at a mountain? Don’t panic! You don’t have to systemise everything overnight. The key is to start smart & focus on the most critical areas first. Here’s a practical first step: Pick ONE core process that’s causing you pain or taking up a lot of your time. Maybe it’s your client onboarding, your social media content creation, or how you handle enquiries. Map it out, step-by-step. Literally, write down every single action involved. Don’t worry about making it perfect; just get it out of your head. For example, if you are trying to map client onboarding, ask yourself "What's the very first thing that happens when a new client signs up? What email do they get? What forms do they need to fill in?" Identify the bottlenecks. Where do things get stuck? What’s frequently missed? What questions do you answer over & over again? Create a simple SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for it. This could be a checklist, a short video tutorial (Loom is brilliant for this!), or a written document. The goal is clarity & repeatability. For example, a simple checklist SOP could look like this: "1. Send welcome email with onboarding instructions. 2. Schedule kickoff call. 3. Add client to project management system". Do this for one process, then another. Little by little, you’ll build your operating manual. And in today's world, we have incredible tools at our fingertips. Think smart AI assistants that can help you draft those SOPs, automate client communication sequences, or even manage your project workflows more efficiently, but human review is key . It's about leveraging technology to build that seamless operational flow, making your business smarter, not just busier. This isn't about replacing the human touch; it's about freeing up humans to do what they do best – connect, create, & innovate. For example, Fusion, our fifth Business Flourish Framework pillar is all about integrating those A.I tools to make your business hum! The Inner Shift: From 'Chief Everything Officer' to Empowered Leader Finally, let’s talk about the mindset shift that needs to happen alongside the practical system building. For so many of us ambitious female entrepreneurs, especially those who’ve built our businesses from scratch, it can be incredibly hard to let go. We become the ‘Chief Everything Officer,’ convinced that no one can do things as well, or as quickly, as we can. I had to learn this the hard way. For the longest time, I was convinced that if I wasn't doing it all myself, it wouldn't be 'right'. It took a near-burnout experience (& a very honest conversation with my own coach!) to realise that this wasn't sustainable, nor was it serving my bigger vision. The real growth came when I learned to trust well-designed processes & eventually, the amazing people I brought in to run them. Remember, trust is key, so ask yourself “How am I creating a space of trust for myself & my team?” Successfully delegating, & leading a team, requires you to: Trust your systems: If you’ve built robust processes, you need to trust them to guide your team. Empower your people: Give your team the tools, training, & autonomy to succeed within those systems. Micromanaging crushes initiative & breeds resentment. Shift your focus from doing to leading : Your role evolves. It becomes about setting the vision, coaching your team, & continually refining the systems, not getting caught in the weeds. Embrace imperfection (initially): There will be a learning curve for your new hire. Mistakes might happen. That’s okay. Your systems will help catch them, & they provide a framework for learning & improvement. To help you with this shift in perspective, ask yourself: What fears am I holding onto by not delegating? How am I inadvertently blocking my team from succeeding? Where am I not trusting myself and my business? This inner work, this development of a leadership mindset, is just as crucial as the systems themselves. It’s about cultivating the confidence to step into your role as a true CEO. The Time to Systemise is NOW So, if hiring is on your horizon, please, please, please take this as your loving nudge from me: pause & systemise first. It might feel like a detour, but I promise you, it’s the most direct route to sustainable, joyful, & profitable scaling. You’ll thank yourself a thousand times over when you bring that first team member into a business that’s organised, efficient, & ready for them to shine. You’re building something incredible. Let’s make sure it’s built on a foundation that can truly support your biggest vision. If you're a Scaling Leader ready to lay these strategic foundations, build robust systems, & prepare confidently for your first (or next) hire, our Explore Momentum Coaching is specifically designed to give you that tailored support, strategic roadmap, & the mindset shifts needed to make it happen. Let's build a business that truly frees you up to lead. • Internationalizing Online Service Business: A Femmeprenista Blueprint

From Local Acclaim to Global Impact: My Blueprint for Internationalizing Your Online Service Business Ever get that feeling? You’ve built something incredible. Your online service business is flourishing, you’re making a real difference in your clients’ lives, & you’ve achieved a level of success that once felt like a distant dream. But then, a new thought starts to whisper… what if there’s more? What if your impact, your message, your unique brilliance could resonate far beyond your current borders? If you’re a female entrepreneur, particularly a Scaling Leader actively scaling with proven traction or a Visionary Leader leading a thriving business, who’s feeling that pull towards a wider stage, then darling, you’re in the right place. Taking your online service business international might seem like a monumental leap, perhaps even a bit daunting. I get it. When you’re already juggling so much – perhaps family life with its beautiful chaos (I know all about trying to record a podcast while my energetic puppy, Espresso, decides the living room is her personal racetrack, with Cappuccino, her mum, giving that 'here we go again' sigh!), a demanding business, & maybe even personal development like my own PhD journey – adding ‘global domination’ to the to-do list can feel like a stretch. The chaos of managing school runs, toddler tantrums, & client calls is intense enough locally ; the idea of factoring in new time zones and cultural nuances can feel overwhelming! But here’s the exciting truth: expanding your reach and influence beyond your domestic market isn't about adding overwhelming complexity. It’s about strategic, smart, & authentic growth. It’s about taking the magic you’ve already created and thoughtfully sharing it with a world that’s waiting for you. And I’m here to share my blueprint, born from years of experience & a deep understanding of what it takes to scale with soul. In today's interconnected world, with over 5 billion people using the internet, your audience is potentially global. The Global Mindset: Seeing Beyond Your Current Horizon Before we even touch on strategy or operations, the journey to international impact begins right between your ears. It’s about cultivating a truly global mindset. This means shifting your perspective from a purely local operational view to one that sees & seizes international opportunities. It’s about nurturing the vision, the unshakeable confidence, & the strategic foresight to believe that your services have value, and a hungry audience, waiting across different shores. It also falls directly in our Business Flourish Framework pillar for FOCUS, which means building resilience & leading with confidence, because you might experience setbacks. I remember during my MBA at Cranfield, being surrounded by an international cohort – people from all walks of life, from different countries, all bringing unique perspectives. It was like a lightbulb switching on, showing me just how vast the world of business was, & how universal many entrepreneurial challenges & aspirations are. It planted a seed, a curiosity about what "bigger" could look like. It's really funny, because this speaks to the heart of what we explore at Femmeprenista: understanding your deeper purpose and vision. When your ‘why’ is big enough, it often naturally seeks a larger canvas. If you're curious about how we unpack this, our approach to delving into your deepest drivers offers a pathway to aligning your business, which might just include a global vision. A pivotal part of embracing this vision involved confronting my own vulnerabilities; I remember one early marketing campaign flopping spectacularly because I hadn't fully grasped the cultural nuances of my target audience – a humbling but invaluable lesson. One practical challenge I didn’t anticipate was the sheer admin of managing different invoicing requirements & currency conversions – it felt like I was spending more time wrestling with spreadsheets than actually serving my clients! But that forced me to create streamlined systems (a core element of our FLOW pillar) to take control of that, so that the business didn't run me! This mindset shift involves: Embracing Ambition: Giving yourself permission to dream bigger. It’s not about ego; it’s about impact. You’ve built success locally; why not internationally? Building Confidence: Trusting in the value you provide. If your services transform lives in your home country, they have the potential to do so elsewhere. Developing Strategic Foresight: Looking ahead, identifying trends, & seeing where your unique expertise can fill a gap in new markets. This is a core part of how we approach growth within our holistic methodology for business development. A great resource is the World Trade Organization (WTO), it publishes reports & statistics on global trade. It’s about moving beyond any limiting beliefs that whisper, "Who am I to go global?" & instead asking, "How can I best serve a wider audience?" This inner work, this sharpening of your focus & belief, is the bedrock upon which all successful international expansion is built. Authentic International Marketing: Your Voice, Amplified Globally Once your mindset is primed for global possibilities, the next step is figuring out how to authentically connect with international audiences. This isn't about changing who you are or diluting your core brand identity. Oh no, darling. It's about adapting your branding, messaging, & marketing strategies to resonate with diverse cultures while staying utterly true to your values & what makes you, you . This is where your unique flair truly comes into play. It’s about: Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding that what resonates in one culture might not in another. This could be as simple as humour, colloquialisms, or imagery. Honestly, I once used a very British turn of phrase – "taking the mickey" – in some early marketing material, & a potential client from the US was completely baffled! It was a gentle reminder that clarity & relatability need to be filtered through a cultural lens. Messaging Adaptation: Your core message might remain the same, but how you articulate it could need tweaking. Are there specific pain points or aspirations that are more pronounced in certain international markets? Platform Choices: Where do your ideal international clients hang out online? Your current social media strategy might need diversification or a shift in emphasis. Maintaining Authenticity: This is crucial. Don't try to be someone you're not to appeal to a new market. Your authenticity is your superpower. The goal is to find the intersection where your genuine brand voice meets the cultural nuances of your target audience. Think of it like translating a beloved song into another language. You want to keep the melody, the emotion, the core essence, but choose words that evoke the same feeling for a new set of listeners. It’s about connection, not just conversion. Strategic Operational Adjustments: Laying the Global Groundwork Okay, let’s get practical. Taking your online service business international does require some strategic operational adjustments. But please, don’t let this part overwhelm you! It’s about laying key foundational steps, often leveraging technology to make things smoother & more efficient. This is where smart systems & intelligent integration become your best friends. Key areas to consider: Payment Gateways: How will international clients pay you? Research & implement payment gateways that are trusted & accessible in your target markets (e.g., Stripe, PayPal often have good international coverage, but it's worth checking specifics). Consider options like Wise or Payoneer for broader reach. Basic Legal & Tax Awareness (Digital Services): This can feel like a minefield, I know! But for digital services, it’s often simpler than for physical products. Start by getting a basic awareness of digital sales tax (like VAT MOSS in Europe if you're serving EU B2C clients, though post-Brexit rules have their own flavour for UK businesses) or any specific regulations for selling services into your target countries. Often, your accountant or a business mentor can point you to initial resources. The key is awareness & taking personal responsibility to find out what applies to you . A good starting point is this article, 'What is VAT MOSS?': https://www.avalara.com/vatlive/en/vat-news/what-is-vat-mini-one-stop-shop.html It might feel daunting, but this aspect relates to building your Fuel, creating energetic stability. Technology for Seamless Service Delivery: This is where you can really streamline your processes. Communication Tools: Ensure you have reliable video conferencing (Zoom, Google Meet, Skype), messaging apps, & email systems that work well across borders. Scheduling Software: Use tools that automatically adjust for time zones to avoid confusion when booking calls with international clients. Options include Calendly, Acuity Scheduling, or even integrated features within your CRM. Client Portals/Learning Platforms: If you deliver courses or resources, ensure your platform is easily accessible globally (e.g., Teachable, Thinkific, Kajabi). AI for Efficiency: Think about how AI tools could help. Perhaps an AI-powered chatbot to handle initial enquiries from different time zones, or AI translation tools to help you understand feedback from non-native English speakers (while always having a human touch for important communications!). Some AI-powered tools can even help with market research or generating initial social media posts for new regions. It’s all about leveraging technology to enhance, not replace, genuine connection. Remember, you don't need to overhaul everything overnight. These are adjustments you can make strategically & incrementally as you expand. Empowered Action & A Phased Approach: Your Global Journey, Your Way The most important ingredient in this whole process? You. Your empowered action. It’s about taking personal responsibility for researching these steps, for making informed decisions, & for implementing them pragmatically. One of the biggest mistakes I see is entrepreneurs trying to go everywhere at once. That’s a recipe for burnout & spreading yourself too thin. Instead, I champion a phased approach: Start Small: Identify one or two initial international markets that feel like a natural fit. Perhaps you already have a few inquiries from a particular country, or maybe your research shows a strong demand for your services there. Test & Learn: Treat your initial foray into a new market as a learning experience. What’s working? What’s not? What are you discovering about this new audience? Iterate & Refine: Based on your learnings, adjust your marketing, your offerings, & your operational setup. Scale Strategically: Once you’ve gained traction & confidence in one or two markets, then you can consider expanding further. This isn't about a frantic scramble; it's about smart, sustainable growth. It’s about building a global business that truly serves your life & your vision, not the other way around. What This Means for You: Scaling Leaders & Visionary Leaders If you're a Scaling Leader actively scaling with proven traction, international expansion can be the key to unlocking that next level of sustainable growth & impact. It’s about taking your proven model and reaching more of the people you’re meant to serve. For those of you at this stage, really looking to implement tailored strategies for this kind of expansion & build the smart systems needed for global reach, Momentum Coaching offers dedicated 1:1 support to help you navigate these exciting new waters. • SEO for Femmeprenistas: Simple Steps to Get Found Online

Demystifying SEO for Busy Femmeprenistas: Your Simple, Empowering Start to Getting Found Online Let’s be honest, shall we? When you hear the acronym “S-E-O,” what’s your first reaction? If you’re anything like I was, your brain might immediately conjure up images of complex code, impenetrable jargon, & tech wizards hunched over glowing screens in darkened rooms. As a busy female entrepreneur – especially if you’re a mum, like me, juggling school runs, nappy changes, a PhD, & trying to remember if it’s my day to walk the dogs (our energetic Min Pins, Cappuccino & Espresso, certainly won’t let me forget their needs!) – it can feel like just one more overwhelming, impossible “thing” to add to an already overflowing plate. Sound familiar? I remember when I was first properly diving into building my online presence, the thought of tackling Search Engine Optimisation felt like being asked to learn a new language while simultaneously trying to cook dinner with a toddler clinging to my leg & a teenager needing help with their homework. Honestly, it felt about as appealing as dealing with a demanding toddler… again . Even now, with years of experience, I still struggle with finding the time to stay updated with all the algorithm changes, which is why I'm always learning & adapting. It’s easy to think, “I’ll just be brilliant at what I do, & my soul clients will magically find me!” Oh, if only it were that simple. But here’s the empowering truth I’ve learned, & what I want to share with you today: foundational SEO isn’t about becoming a tech guru. It’s about understanding & implementing a few strategic, manageable steps to authentically connect with your ideal clients. It’s about taking ownership of your online visibility as an act of empowerment & smart business building. And you, my dear Femmeprenista, absolutely can do this. Why SEO Matters (Even When Your To-Do List is a Mile Long) I know, I know. You’re already doing all the things . You’re creating incredible products or services, you’re pouring your heart into your business, & you’re probably trying to keep at least a few personal life plates spinning too. So why add SEO to the mix? Let’s be totally honest here for a sec… Because, lovely, it’s one of the most powerful, sustainable ways for the right people – your absolute dream clients, the ones who truly need what you offer – to discover you. Think of it as laying down a clear, well-lit path directly to your digital doorstep. Without it, even the most brilliant offerings can remain hidden gems. Taking simple steps to improve your SEO isn't just a "nice to have"; it's a non-negotiable foundation for authentic online visibility. It’s an act of taking personal responsibility for ensuring your valuable work gets seen. At Femmeprenista, we believe in supporting female entrepreneurs in every facet of their journey, & that absolutely includes making your brilliant work discoverable by those who need it most. This isn't about chasing vanity metrics or trying to "trick" Google. It's about clearly communicating your value & making it easy for search engines to understand what you do, so they can connect you with people actively searching for solutions you provide. One client saw a 30% increase in leads after clarifying her messaging - that’s the power of Flair Flair ! This directly enhances your marketing & messaging – what we call building your Flair Flair in our Business Flourish Framework. It’s ensuring all that wonderful energy you put into your brand actually reaches its intended audience. You can learn more about the Business Flourish Framework How We Work / Business Flourish Framework Page to see the holistic power of what we do. My Take: It’s Simpler Than You Think (Promise!) As a fellow CEO & a mum to four, from a teenager navigating GCSEs down to an infant son who thinks my laptop is a fascinating new toy, believe me, I get the need for simplicity. My brainpower is often reserved for deciphering toddler logic or remembering who needs a permission slip signed! And honestly, if SEO were truly as complex as it’s sometimes made out to be at a foundational level, I’d be the first to say, “No, thank you!” But here’s what I’ve discovered: just like figuring out the most efficient way to get through the supermarket with a two-year-old in tow, or streamlining my client onboarding process, basic SEO is about understanding core principles & taking consistent, smart action. It’s not about needing a computer science degree overnight. It’s about small, manageable steps that, over time, make a huge difference. I’ll let you in on a little secret, though: my first attempt at SEO was a disaster . I thought I could just stuff keywords into my website copy like I was packing a suitcase for a month-long trip. The result? My website read like it was written by a robot, & my rankings actually plummeted . It was a classic case of “more isn’t better,” & it taught me the hard way that authenticity & user experience always come first. Uncomplicating SEO: What You Actually Need to Know Let’s cut through the noise. At its heart, SEO is about making your website & content more attractive to search engines (like Google) & to the humans using them. It’s about: Understanding what your ideal clients are searching for. Using their language (keywords) naturally in your content. Providing a positive experience for visitors on your website. That’s it. Seriously. No dark arts, no secret code. It’s about clarity, relevance, & user-friendliness. This clarity is so key – it’s the Focus Focus pillar of our Business Flourish Framework in action. When you’re clear on who you’re talking to & what problems you solve for them, choosing the right words to help them find you becomes so much more intuitive. Your First Actionable SEO Steps (No Tech Overwhelm, I Pinky Swear!) Ready to take a few simple, empowering steps? These are things you can start thinking about & implementing today, without needing to hire an expert (unless you want to, of course!). Know Your Keywords (aka Speak Your Client’s Language): This is the absolute bedrock. Keywords are simply the words & phrases your ideal client types into Google when they’re looking for answers, solutions, or inspiration that you provide. How to find them? Think like your client. Put yourself in their shoes. What specific problems are they trying to solve? What are their aspirations? What questions do they ask you during discovery calls or in DMs? Action Tip: Grab a notebook (a real one, sometimes it helps to get off-screen!) & jot down 5-10 phrases you think your dream client would search for. Don't overthink it. If you help busy mums simplify meal planning, they might search for "quick family meals," "easy recipes for toddlers," or "healthy meal prep for busy mums." This foundational work on understanding your niche & ideal client is something we dive deep into in programmes like our Spark Program Page . Getting this clarity first makes your SEO efforts (and all your marketing!) so much more effective. Sprinkle Keywords Naturally (No Awkward Stuffing!): Once you have a few core keywords, the idea is to weave them naturally into your website content – your homepage, your services pages, & your blog posts (like this one!). Where to put them? Page Titles & Headings: These are like the chapter titles of your website. Make them clear & descriptive, ideally including a relevant keyword. Body Text: Especially in the first paragraph or two, let Google (& your reader!) know what the page is about. Image Alt Text: This is the text that describes an image if it can't be seen. It’s another great spot for relevant keywords. The Golden Rule: Write for humans first, search engines second. Your content must read naturally & provide real value. Keyword stuffing (just repeating keywords over & over) is a big no-no & actually hurts your ranking. This is all part of showcasing your unique Flair Flair – making your message clear & compelling. Make Your Website a Welcoming Place: Google wants to send its users to websites that offer a good experience. Think about it – if you click on a search result & land on a site that’s slow, confusing, or looks terrible on your phone, you’ll hit the back button pretty quickly, right? Simple Checks: Is your website easy to navigate? Does it load reasonably quickly? Does it look good & work well on mobile phones? These aren’t massive tech overhauls. Often, they’re about simple design choices & ensuring your website platform is up-to-date. This all contributes to a better Flow Flow for your visitors, making their journey smoother. Think clear navigation menus, buttons that actually look clickable, & a design that adapts beautifully to any screen size. If the very thought of tackling website tech makes you want to run for the hills, remember there are options. Services like our Ready-to-Launch Kit Page can provide you with a professional, SEO-friendly website foundation, so you can focus on your zone of genius. SEO as Empowerment: Taking Back Control Do you see how these simple steps aren’t about complex algorithms, but about clarity, connection, & common sense? By understanding these basics, you’re not just "doing SEO"; you’re taking proactive, personal responsibility for your business’s discoverability. You’re making it easier for the people who genuinely need your brilliance to find you. This is the essence of working smart, not just hard – a philosophy we champion here at Femmeprenista. It’s about strategic actions that yield significant results without adding to your mental load. Mastering these foundational elements of your marketing & messaging significantly boosts your Flair Flair , & understanding how this all connects is a core part of our Business Flourish Framework How We Work / Business Flourish Framework Page . It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint (Especially with Kids Cheering You On!) Please remember, lovely, SEO is an ongoing process, not a one-time fix. The online world is always evolving. But the good news is that by focusing on these foundational principles – understanding your audience, creating valuable content, & providing a good user experience – you’ll be building a strong & sustainable presence. The goal isn't to become an SEO master overnight. It's about achieving foundational competence that empowers you & makes it easier for the right people to find your valuable offerings. Start small, be consistent, & celebrate every step forward. You’re building something amazing, & ensuring it gets seen is a vital part of that journey. So, what’s one small SEO-related step you can take this week, Foundation Builder? Perhaps it’s brainstorming those initial keywords, or reviewing the title of your homepage. Whatever it is, I encourage you to take that step. You’ve absolutely got this! • Imposter Syndrome Female Entrepreneurs: Conquer Self-Doubt

Cultivating Unshakeable Confidence: Taming the Imposter Syndrome Beast Ever feel like a fraud, even when you've achieved amazing things? Like you're just waiting to be "found out"? Honey, you're not alone. Imposter syndrome is that uninvited guest at the female entrepreneur's party, whispering doubts and dimming our shine. And as mums, juggling a million things, it can feel like that whisper turns into a shout sometimes! But what if I told you that confidence isn't something you're born with, it's something you build? It's like a muscle – the more you use it, the stronger it gets. My Own Imposter Moments (and How I Beat Them) Let's be honest, the journey from selling sweets on the playground (my first entrepreneurial venture, by the way!) to leading Femmeprenista hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows. I've had my share of "what am I doing?" moments. I remember the gut-wrenching fear when I first applied for the MBA at Cranfield. I could practically smell the stale coffee in the MBA classroom, a constant reminder of the all-nighters fueled by caffeine and the sheer terror of not measuring up. I'd had my second daughter just months before and the thought of juggling a demanding programme & motherhood, well, let's just say my stomach did a few somersaults. It was a big deal, and my inner critic had a field day. "You're not smart enough," it hissed. "You'll never keep up. You'll be a failure." Just last week, despite having helped hundreds of women build six-figure businesses, coaching certifications, an MBA, and being knee-deep in my PhD research, that familiar imposter gremlin reared its ugly head. I was prepping for a live training inside Femme:Connect , and completely froze. It felt ridiculous. "Who am I to teach these women?," I thought. All my accomplishments seemed to vanish. Right then, with Espresso bouncing off the walls & the baby monitor broadcasting a symphony of gurgles, I did two things: I texted a fellow entrepreneur for a quick pep talk (community is key, ladies!), and I reminded myself of all the women I'd already helped. That quick mindset shift, focusing on serving rather than self-doubt, was exactly what I needed. See, imposter syndrome doesn't magically disappear when you hit certain milestones. It’s an ongoing journey, and that’s ok. My research into Black female entrepreneurship consistently reveals this – it’s a shared experience, even at the highest levels of achievement. Another moment was when I decided to take the plunge & pursue a PhD, now with my youngest a toddler & infant son. Slower, yes, I thought to myself, echoing the sentiments I often hear from women in our community, many of whom are working on their business while still in employment. Different path, absolutely. But giving up? Not a chance! It was like one of those sliding doors moments where I realized giving up just wasn't in my vocabulary. My journey has taught me that we women, particularly as mums, we're built to juggle. We're wired for resilience. & If we’re doing things a little differently, well, that’s ok. That’s our super power. We’re doing it our way! Building Your Confidence Arsenal: Practical Tools for the Juggle So, how do we quiet that inner critic & build unshakeable confidence? Especially for those of you who are "Foundation Builders," just starting out on your entrepreneurial journey, these tools can be game changers. Here are a few I’ve added to my own arsenal over the years: Take Action, Celebrate Wins: It's easy to get paralysed by overthinking, especially when you're juggling motherhood & business. The antidote? Action. Start small. Celebrate every win – from sending that first email to landing a new client. It’s like when my six-year-old finally mastered riding her bike – the pure joy of that achievement, the confidence it gave her, it’s the same for us in business. Those small wins are fuel for your confidence engine. For example, commit to sending five outreach emails today, then treat yourself to a guilt-free cuppa & celebrate that small but significant step. Smart action, consistently applied, is where the magic happens. “Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day.” - Jim Rohn Own Your Expertise: You are an expert in your field. You have unique skills & experiences that your ideal clients need. Own it. Don't downplay your achievements. It’s not bragging; it's sharing your gifts with the world. I remember when I was younger, and a teacher tried to shut me down for asking too many questions! “Stop disrupting the class, Carlene!”, he'd bark. But I had something to say, & I wasn’t about to be silenced. Embrace that inner voice, that drive to learn & grow – it’s what makes you an exceptional entrepreneur. Today, update your LinkedIn profile to showcase a recent accomplishment or client win. Let your expertise shine! Remember that time you solved a tricky problem for a client, or that glowing testimonial you received? Share it! “I’m not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. I’m the first Simone Biles.” - Simone Biles Focus on Serving: Shift your focus from self-doubt to serving your clients. When you're focused on solving their problems & making a difference in their lives, the imposter syndrome fades into the background. It's like that "aha" moment I had during my MBA – it wasn't just about climbing the corporate ladder; it was about building a business that served a real purpose. It's the why behind the what that matters. My PhD research shows that purpose-driven businesses, especially those led by women, are significantly more resilient in the face of challenges. Identify one specific pain point your ideal client faces, & create a piece of content (a blog, social media post, or even a short video) addressing it today. Give, give, give, and you'll be amazed at what comes back. “People don't buy WHAT you do; they buy WHY you do it.” - Simon Sinek Remember, you’re not just building a business; you're building a legacy. Build Your Tribe: Surround yourself with supportive, like-minded women. Community is crucial for navigating the entrepreneurial rollercoaster. It's a place to share your wins, vent your frustrations, and know you're not alone in the juggle. It’s like having a virtual coffee date with your business bestie – a place to celebrate, commiserate, and remind each other of our power. Join a relevant Facebook group, attend a local networking event, or connect with a fellow entrepreneur on Instagram today. Building genuine connections is essential for sustainable growth & well-being – it’s the heartbeat of our ‘Fuel’ pillar. Reframe Your Thoughts: That inner critic? It’s not your enemy; it’s just trying to protect you. But it doesn’t know the real you – the powerful, resilient entrepreneur you are becoming. When those negative thoughts creep in, reframe them. "I'm not good enough" becomes "I'm learning & growing every day". "I'll never succeed" becomes "I'm committed to taking action & making progress". It’s about cultivating a solutions-focused mindset – the essence of developing a strong entrepreneurial mindset. When you feel self-doubt creeping in, write down the negative thought, then consciously reframe it into a positive, empowering statement. Repeat it out loud, and feel the shift in your energy. It’s like a mini mental workout for your confidence muscle. “I don’t chase, I attract.” - Roxie Nafousi. It's about leading yourself first, so you can lead your business with strength & clarity. The Truth About Confidence (and Why It Matters) Confidence isn't about being perfect; it's about embracing the messy, beautiful journey of entrepreneurship. It's about knowing that you are capable, resilient, & worthy of success. & When imposter syndrome tries to crash the party, you can confidently show it the door. Because, honey, you’ve got this. • Business Legacy Femmeprenista: Build a Lasting Impact

Beyond the Balance Sheet: Architecting Your True Business Legacy as a Visionary Femmeprenista Ever find yourself staring out of the window, a half-finished cup of tea growing cold beside you, wondering what it’s all really for? You’ve built something incredible. You’re a leader, a visionary, perhaps a mother juggling the beautiful chaos of family life alongside the exhilarating demands of your enterprise. But that quiet whisper persists: “What will truly last? What kind of imprint am I making?” If you’re nodding along, you’re in the right place, lovely. As female entrepreneurs, especially those of us who are mothers, the traditional, purely financial definition of "legacy" can feel… well, a bit flat. Like a perfectly tailored suit that just doesn’t quite fit our multifaceted lives or our deeper aspirations. We crave something more, don’t we? Something that speaks to our soul, our values, & the kind of world we want to shape for our children & beyond. Here at Femmeprenista, I believe – no, I know – that true legacy for the modern Femmeprenista, particularly at the Visionary Leader stage (if you're leading an established business / Sofia-Type), is about so much more than just the numbers on a spreadsheet. It’s about architecting an enduring enterprise rooted in your deepest personal values, making an impactful contribution, & achieving genuine autonomy. It's about ensuring your business not only thrives but also profoundly enriches your life as a whole, even amidst the delightful whirlwind of motherhood. So, let’s redefine legacy, shall we? Let’s explore how you can intentionally design & build a business that leaves a lasting, meaningful imprint. Key Message 1: Legacy Redefined – More Than Just Money, Honey For too long, "business legacy" has been synonymous with financial wealth passed down, often with a rather patriarchal, old-school flavour. But for us, as ambitious, heart-centred female entrepreneurs, it’s a much richer tapestry. Imagine a legacy that includes: Purpose & Enduring Values: A business that is a living, breathing embodiment of what you stand for. Your core values woven into its DNA, guiding every decision, every interaction. This is about understanding your fundamental 'why' (if you're looking to dive deeper into this, our thoughts on Spark Program might resonate). Societal Impact: The positive change your business creates in the world, whether big or small. It could be through the problems you solve, the communities you build, the opportunities you create, or the causes you champion. Lifestyle Alignment & Autonomy: A business that serves your life, not the other way around. One that grants you the freedom & flexibility to be present for your family, pursue your passions, & live a life of genuine fulfillment. Honestly, this was a huge driver for me, moving away from corporate environments where I often felt like a replaceable cog, craving the autonomy to build something truly aligned with my life as a mum of four. My journey, including the decision to pursue an MBA at Cranfield while juggling a young family, was all about seeking this deeper alignment. You can read more about me & the values that drive Femmeprenista About . An Inheritance of Inspiration: Beyond financial assets, what inspiration, skills, & mindset are you passing on? For our children, seeing us build something meaningful with passion & resilience is a powerful legacy in itself. This holistic view of legacy is particularly critical & resonant for us entrepreneurial mothers. We're not just building businesses; we're raising future generations & shaping their understanding of what’s possible. We want them to see that success & soul, profit & purpose, ambition & presence, can beautifully coexist. Key Message 2: The Power of Ownership & Intentional Design – Your Legacy Blueprint Here’s a truth bomb: a powerful, lasting legacy doesn’t just happen . It’s not a passive byproduct of success. It’s the result of conscious, intentional design & radical personal ownership. You, as the CEO, are the chief architect of your legacy blueprint. I remember when I was deep in my PhD research, juggling it with my business & the beautiful chaos of my young family – my path definitely felt "slower" than some. There were moments, usually late at night with a demanding toddler & an infant, where I questioned if I was taking on too much. In fact, I remember one evening, feeling utterly drained after a full day of PhD work & chasing after the kids, I seriously considered deferring for a year, wondering if I was sacrificing precious time with my family for an abstract goal. Honestly, some days it felt impossible, like I was failing at everything – a rubbish academic, a distracted mum, & a flaky CEO! But the vision for the impact I wanted to make, the legacy I wanted to build for my children & for the female entrepreneurs I serve, always pulled me through. It required me to take absolute ownership of my unique path, my timeline, & the deliberate choices I was making. That unwavering clarity, that sharp focus on the long-term vision, is absolutely foundational. Building your legacy requires: Crystal-Clear Vision: What do you want your business to look like, feel like, & achieve in 5, 10, 20 years & beyond? This long-term perspective is crucial. It’s about seeing the cathedral, not just laying the bricks. Intentionality in Every Action: Aligning your daily decisions with your long-term legacy goals. It means asking: "Does this choice move me closer to the lasting impact I want to create?" Taking Personal Responsibility: Owning the journey, the successes, the setbacks, & the continuous evolution required. It’s about understanding that while external factors exist, your response & your strategic choices are what shape your ultimate impact. This isn't about adding more to your already overflowing plate. It's about bringing a new level of intention & strategic thinking to what you’re already doing. Key Message 3: Strategic Cornerstones of an Enduring Legacy – Building to Last So, how do you practically build this kind of enduring business legacy ? As a Visionary Leader, you’re already skilled at strategy. Now, let’s apply that to the long game. Here are some strategic cornerstones: Solidify Your Long-Term Vision: This is more than just goals; it's the guiding star. What is the ultimate 'why' driving your enterprise? A compelling vision inspires not only you but also your team, your clients, & your community. It provides the clarity needed to navigate challenges & stay the course. Build Robust & Scalable Systems: For your legacy to endure, your business needs to thrive beyond your daily operational involvement. This means architecting beautifully designed, intuitively efficient systems – perhaps leveraging smart AI tools to truly streamline your processes – for everything from client delivery to marketing & operations. Imagine your business humming along, delivering exceptional value, whether you’re spearheading a new innovation or taking that much-needed family holiday. This creates true operational freedom & sustainability. Cultivate an Authentic & Enduring Brand: How do you ensure your business feels like you, that its very essence resonates with your deepest values, even when you're not in the room? This is about crafting a brand that has true staying power, an authentic voice that consistently reflects your 'why' & connects deeply with your ideal audience. It’s the unique flavour, the unmistakable imprint that makes your business memorable & meaningful. Nurture Future Leaders (If Applicable): Part of an enduring business legacy can be about empowering others within your organisation to carry the torch forward. This might involve mentoring, developing talent, & creating a culture that fosters growth & leadership at all levels. Prioritise Your Personal Sustainability: Let’s be perfectly honest, lovely: building a business legacy is a marathon, not a sprint. You are the most crucial asset in this entire equation. How are you ensuring your own energy, your well-being, your creativity, & your passion are not just afterthoughts but core strategic priorities? A depleted leader cannot build an enduring business legacy . Your business must energise rather than drain you. If you're nodding along & thinking about how these strategic pillars fit together, you might find our Business Flourish Framework interesting. It’s designed to help female entrepreneurs integrate these elements for sustainable success. Key Message 4: The Visionary Mother's Path to Lasting Impact – It’s Not Either/Or One of the biggest limiting beliefs I see among entrepreneurial mothers is the idea that they have to choose: build a significant business legacy or be a present, engaged parent. I’m here to tell you, with every fibre of my being, that this is a false dichotomy. A study in the Journal of Applied Psychology highlights that perceived work-family conflict is strongly linked to burnout among female entrepreneurs (Kossek, E. E., Pichler, S., Bodner, T., & Hammer, L. B. (2011). Workplace social support and work-family conflict: A meta-analysis clarifying the influence of general and work-family-specific supervisor and organizational support. Personnel Psychology, 64 (4), 817–849). My own journey is a testament to this. Completing my MBA at Cranfield with my six-year-old, & now navigating my PhD with my two youngest, has been incredibly challenging, yes. It’s meant late nights, early mornings, & a level of organisation I didn’t know I possessed! But it has also been profoundly rewarding. My children see their mum pursuing her passions, building something meaningful, & striving for impact. That, in itself, is a legacy. Building a significant business legacy & being a present parent are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they can be beautifully complementary when approached with: Smart Strategies: This is where efficient systems, delegation, & leveraging technology become your best friends. Clear Priorities: Knowing what truly matters & being ruthless about protecting your time & energy for those things. Boundaries: Learning to say 'no' to things that don't align with your vision or your well-being. Self-Compassion: Understanding that some days will be more "balanced" than others, & that’s okay. It’s about the overall trajectory. I remember one week when my eldest daughter was incredibly nervous about a school performance. The same week, we were making a pivotal strategic decision for Femmeprenista. For a moment, it felt like two entirely separate, demanding worlds. But as I sat there, cheering her on, bursting with pride, I realised it was all interconnected. Being fully present for her actually fuelled my clarity & conviction for the business. It reminded me why I’m building this – for them, for their future, for a world where women can lead with both strength & heart. Key Message 5: Beyond Profit – Crafting Your Unique Imprint Ultimately, the business legacy you build is your unique imprint on the world. It's the story that will be told about your business, your leadership, & the values you championed, long after the daily hustle fades. So, I invite you to dream bigger than just profit margins. Consider: What positive change can your business be a catalyst for? What values do you want to be known for instilling in your team, your clients, your industry? What kind of world are you helping to create through your work? To begin building that meaningful imprint, grab a pen & paper & ask yourself these questions: What positive change can your business be a catalyst for? What values do you want to be known for instilling in your team, your clients, your industry? What kind of world are you helping to create through your work? What valuable inheritance – of spirit, of opportunity, of knowledge – are you creating for your family & your community? This isn't about perfection; it's about progress & intention. It's about consciously choosing to build something that not only sustains you financially but also feeds your soul & leaves the world a little brighter because you & your business were in it. To help you begin crafting your unique imprint today , consider these three actionable steps: Identify Your Core Values: List 3-5 values that are non-negotiable for you in life and business. (Think: Authenticity, Family, Creativity, Impact, Freedom). Use these as a filter for all decisions. Define Your Impact Statement: What single sentence encapsulates the positive change you want to see in the world through your business? (Example: "To empower 1,000 women to achieve financial freedom and design lives they love"). Audit Your Daily Actions: Spend one week tracking how you spend your time. Identify 1-2 activities that don't align with your values or impact statement and delegate or eliminate them. Your Legacy Starts Today Building a business legacy might sound like a grand, far-off endeavour, but the truth is, it starts with the choices you make today. It’s in the way you lead, the values you uphold, the systems you build, & the purpose you infuse into your daily work. It's about building a business legacy . As a Visionary Leader, you have the power, the vision, & the capability to architect something truly extraordinary – a business legacy that resonates with who you are, what you believe, & the impact you’re destined to make. It’s a profound journey, & one that requires dedicated focus & high-level strategic thinking. P.S.
