I see you. I’ve beenbeen you. & that’s exactly why I’m writing this, from my heart to yours. I want to share the story behind Femmeprenista, what we stand for, & why I believe with every fibre of my being that we can build incredible, fulfilling businesses & live lives we adore, especially as ambitious women & mothers.

The Whisper That Became a Roar: My Journey to Femmeprenista

For years, I navigated the corporate world. On paper, it looked like progress. But deep down? I often felt like a replaceable cog in a giant machine, my contributions sometimes vanishing into the ether without a trace, my name unattached. Do you know that feeling? That yearning for your work to directly reflect your effort, your passion, your unique spark? I craved autonomy, the flexibility to be truly present for my growing family (four amazing children who are my world!), & the ability to make a direct, tangible impact.

The corporate structure, with its often rigid rules & limited scope for true work-life integration (those 12-13 weeks of school holidays are no joke for working parents!), just wasn’t cutting it. It felt like trying to fit a round peg into a square hole – & I knew, deep down, I wasn’t square!

My own journey has been, shall we say, wonderfully non-linear. From early entrepreneurial sparks (yes, I was that kid selling sweets in the playground!) to my academic pursuits – completing my MBA at Cranfield while juggling a baby, & now diving into PhD research focused on the experiences of Black female entrepreneurs with my two youngest in tow – each step has reinforced a core belief: we all thrive when we have support that’s tailored to usus, in an environment that allows our true voice to emerge. I remember vividly how my own father fiercely advocated for me when teachers tried to silence my inquisitive nature at school; that fire to help others find & use their voice has stayed with me. Honestly, without that early encouragement, I may never have learned to truly own & express my voice. Now, as a coach, it's something I'm passionate about helping other women entrepreneurs do too.

But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing! One of my biggest stumbles actually came early on, as I was building Femmeprenista. I poured all my energy into creating this amazing launch sequence, convinced it would bring in tons of clients. I even remember bragging to my partner, Bear, that we’d be fully booked in weeks! Well, the launch flopped – hard. I’d forgotten a crucial element: truly connecting with mymy audience and their real needs. It was a painful lesson, but it taught me the importance of actually listening, testing my assumptions, & not getting carried away with the shiny object syndrome. It’s a mistake I still cringe about, but it’s a HUGE part of why Femmeprenista is what it is today. And, let's be honest, before really understanding the power of a supportive community, I struggled with the idea that I neededneeded help – I wanted to be the one doing all the helping! It was thanks to amazing women in communities like Femme:Connect that I understood the value of working together.

My path might be "slower" & "harder" because of my commitments, but as I always say, "I'm not giving up. I'm still here... still open to learn." And Femmeprenista is the culmination of all these experiences – the challenges, the learnings, & the unwavering belief in what’s possible when women are truly empowered.
