Launching Your Dream Coaching Business in the UK: A Practical Guide for Aspiring Femmeprenistas

Ready to launch your UK coaching biz? This guide covers mindset, branding, & legalities, just for #femmeprenistas! Start here:

Alright, lovely ladies, let's chat about something close to my heart – launching your very own coaching business right here in the UK. Now, I know what you might be thinking. "Carlene, easier said than done, right? I'm juggling a million things: kids, maybe a partner who thinks date night is a 'working film night', the never-ending school holidays – you know the drill! Where do I even begin?"

And trust me, I getget it. I remember trying to finish a client proposal while my toddler was using my laptop as a canvas for her banana art (abstract expressionism at its finest, honestly). Building a business while navigating life's beautiful chaos – it's a real thing. But guess what? It's totally doable. I'm living proof (PhD student, mum of four, bouncing-off-the-walls puppy owner, the whole shebang!). And today, I'm sharing my roadmap to help you get started as a Business Coach for Women. When I first started Femmeprenista, I was terrified of putting myself out there, convinced no one would take me seriously. But then I remembered my dad shouting at those teachers who tried to silence me, and I thought, 'Nope, not this time.' Finding my voice and owning my expertise was the biggest game-changer. One of my early clients, Sarah, felt the same way – utterly terrified of being visible. After working together, she not only launched her online coaching program but actually booked out her first three months! Seeing her confidence blossom has been incredible.

Laying the Foundation: Mindset & Clarity

Before we dive into the nitty-gritty of websites & marketing, we need to talk about the mostmost important ingredient: your mindset. This is where you, as an Amy-Type or Foundation Builder, truly begin to hone in on what matters. Remember that quote by Tony Robbins, "The only impossible journey is the one you never begin"? That resonated so deeply with me when I was contemplating my MBA at Cranfield. It was a terrifying leap, especially with a little one at home, but those words gave me the push I needed. This is your time.

Many aspiring Business Coaches for Women let fear & self-doubt hold them back. "Who am I to coach others? What if I fail? What if nobody buys?" (Sound familiar? Thought so! Been there, felt that!). But here's the thing: you have so much more to offer than you realize. That inner voice? It's just fear wearing a logical outfit (Adrienne Weimer is a genius, right?). I remember feeling this intensely when I first started charging premium prices. The fear was real, but I pushed through. It changed everything. Time to give that fear a makeover.

  • Identify your "why": Why do you want to coach? What impact do you want to make as a Business Coach for Women? Get crystal clear on your purpose, because this is your fuel. This was a huge lesson from my first business venture, Nisbett & George. We had a great product, but our 'why' wasn't aligned, and it ultimately fell apart. It taught me the hard way that purpose is everything.

  • Challenge those limiting beliefs: Write down all those negative thoughts & then flip them. Instead of "What if I fail?", ask "What if I succeed beyond my wildest dreamsbeyond my wildest dreams?". That’s you starting to design your destiny (Lisa Nichols – another one of my absolute favourites). For me, that meant visualizing a business that allowed me the flexibility to be present for my kids' school plays andand run a successful global brand.

  • Visualize your success: Use the power of your mind. Close your eyes & picture yourself as a thriving Business Coach, impacting lives & building the business (and the life) you truly desire. Remember José Silva's principles—desire, believe, expect. What does that success look like? Feel like? Is it financial freedom? More time with family? The power to make a real difference? Get specific. Your mind is a powerful tool. Use it!

Crafting Your Brand & Message

Once your mindset is solid, it's time to build your brand as a Business Coach For Women. This is where you let your unique brilliance shine.

Remember what Rory Sutherland says, "Value can be created in the mind every bit as much as it can be created in the factory"? His "golden scissors" anecdote – La Perla missing the opportunity to tell the story of their founder's unique tool – is a constant reminder to find the story behind your brand. This is your time to get creative & craft a brand message that resonates with your ideal clients. Think of your brand as the wrapper around your expertise – it's what makes you, youyou.

  • Define your niche: Who do you want to coach? Get super specific. The more niche you are, the easier it is to attract the right clients. Honestly, it's like finding your perfect pair of shoes – not every style fits, but when you find the onethe one, you know it! My own journey from selling sweets in the playground to founding Femmeprenista taught me so much about finding my 'fit'. It wasn't a straight line, that's for sure. My early experiences at university, feeling completely lost at my first one and then thriving at UEL once I found the right environment, really solidified this for me.

  • Craft your message: What are your core values? What makes you different as a Business Coach for Women? This is your chance to stand out in a crowded market. As Simon Sinek says, “People don't buy WHAT you do; they buy WHY you do it.” I learned this firsthand when I realized my MBA wasn't about climbing the corporate ladder; it was about empowering me to build my ownmy own ladder, on my own terms. Remember the "Little Red Hen" fable – when you're clear on your offering & how it transforms lives, like the delicious bread she baked, the right people will come knocking.

  • Build your online presence: You need a professional website that reflects your brand & showcases your expertise as a Business Coach. Don't get bogged down in tech overwhelm. Start simple (a few key pages: about, services, contact) or check out our done-for-you Ready-to-Launch Kit if you want a professional online foundation quickly.

UK-Specific Considerations: Legalities & Taxes

Now for the slightly less glamorous but equally important stuff – the legal & tax side of things. I know, I know, it can feel a bit drydry." But trust me, setting things up correctly from the start will save you headaches (and potentially some serious cash) down the line. Honestly, a little upfront planning goes a long way! It's like potty training a toddler - a bit of effort now saves a lot of mess later. Let’s just say I learned the hard way about claiming business expenses correctly – let's just say HMRC and I had a firmfirm discussion about allowable deductions one year. Not fun.

  • Register your business: Choose the right structure (sole trader, limited company). Get some advice from a qualified accountant in the UK – it's an investment that will pay dividends (literally!). You can find a wealth of information on the HMRC website. I recommend connecting with a coach specializing in UK business legalities.

  • Sort out your taxes: Register for Self Assessment with HMRC. Think of Self Assessment as a yearly check-in with the taxman, where you declare your income & expenses. It can feel daunting at first, like trying to assemble flat-pack furniture without the instructions, but there are plenty of resources to guide you. Understand your tax obligations (National Insurance, income tax). Keep accurate records from the get-go. This is a core part of taking ownership.

  • Data protection (GDPR): Ensure your website & client processes comply with GDPR regulations. Get a good privacy policy in place. This protects both you & your clients.

Creating Your Coaching Packages

Now for the fun part – creating your coaching packages as a Business Coach for Women. This is where you get to package your brilliance into tangible offerings that transform lives.

  • Define your services: What type of Business Coaching do you offer? (e.g., one-on-one, group coaching, online courses). Think about what resonates most with youyou & what best serves your ideal client.

  • Create packages: Structure your coaching into clear packages with different pricing tiers & deliverables (e.g., number of sessions, email support, bonus materials). Avoid undercharging! What's the transformation you offer truly worth? The price must match the experience. For example:

    • A "Foundation Finder" package for Amy-Types might include four 1:1 sessions, weekly email support, & access to a private online community for £500.

    • A more comprehensive "Momentum Builder" package could offer eight 1:1 sessions, fortnightly Voxer support, & bespoke resources for £1200.

Do this – create packages aligned with transformation – not that – offer hourly rates that undervalue your expertise.

  • Payment & scheduling: Set up easy online payments & scheduling systems. Make it seamless for clients to book & pay you. Remember, we’re all about working smarter, not hardersmarter, not harder, right? Leveraging technology is key.

Marketing Your Coaching Business in the UK

You've got your mindset, your message, your packages. Now it's time to get the word out!

  • Networking: Connect with other female entrepreneurs in the UK. Attend events, join online communities (like our amazing free global community, Femme:Connect!). It's the perfect place for support, collaboration, & a good dose of virtual high-fivesvirtual high-fives from fellow "jugglersjugglers." Remember the power of community – we’re all in this together! Femme:Connect offers masterclasses on attracting your ideal client, templates for social media posts that will save you hours, & access to an amazing network of supportive women. Let's face it, building a business can be lonely. We get that.

  • Content marketing: Share valuable content that showcases your expertise & resonates with your ideal clients. Blog posts, social media updates, free workshops – get creative. What insights, tips, or stories can you share that will draw people in? Remember Rory Sutherland's words – stories are powerful! What's youryour unique story?

  • Social media: Choose the platforms where your ideal clients hang out. Create engaging content that builds connections & showcases your personality. Remember, your authentic voice is your most powerful marketing tool (just like Adrienne Weimer says – get unhingedget unhinged!).

  • Paid advertising: If you have the budget, consider running targeted Facebook or Instagram ads to reach a wider audience in the UK. Start small & test different approaches.

Prioritizing Your Well-being (Fuel)

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, prioritize your well-being. This is the Fuel that keeps you going. Building a business is a marathon, not a sprint. You need to take care of yourself to avoid burnout. Remember Lisa Nichol's advice, “Your job is to fill your own cup, so it overflowsYour job is to fill your own cup, so it overflows"? That's your homework.

  • Schedule breaks: Don't work 24/7. Schedule regular breaks throughout the day to recharge & reconnect with your family (and your sanity!). Remember, a few minutes of mindful breathing can do wonders during a chaotic day. I often find myself needing to take a break to translate what my toddler is saying – "ga-ga, goo-goo" could mean anything from "I want a snack" to "I've just painted the dog purple."

  • Move your body: Exercise is not just for physical health; it's essential for mental clarity & stress management. Even a quick walk with the dogs can work wonders. Cappuccino & Espresso definitely keep me on my toes – literally!

  • Connect with your tribe: Surround yourself with supportive people who get it. The entrepreneurial journey can be lonely at times, so connect with other female entrepreneurs for encouragement & inspiration. This is one of the huge benefits of Femme:Connect!

  • Get clear on your goals: Are you designing a life or simply making a living? Isn't life about quality, not just the size of your bank balance?
