Remember my MBA at Cranfield? Intense doesn’t even begin to describe it. Trying to decipher complex financial models while simultaneously deciphering my toddler's unique version of the English language (all while running on minimal sleep, thanks to a particularly charming sleep regression) was...a challenge, let's just say. One all-nighter for an entrepreneurial finance assignment almost had me questioning my sanity (and I’m saying that as a mum of four – my baseline for chaos is pretty high!). But that experience really drilled home the importance of working smart, not just hard. As Myron Golden wisely puts it, "Poor people Major in minor things. Wealthy people Major in Major things." Staying stuck in operational tasks is like running on a hamster wheel – you’re putting in the effort, but you're not actually getting anywhere new. It's not just about the business; it impacts you personally too. Your energy gets depleted, your creativity gets stifled, & that beautiful chaos can quickly tip over into overwhelm. & let's be honest here for a sec, nobody thrives on burnout, especially not when you're also trying to nurture little humans and perhaps a couple of four-legged furry friends like my Cappuccino & Espresso (who, by the way, have their own special talent for creating chaos precisely when I need quiet!).

The Power of Delegation & Systems: Your First Steps to Freedom

So, how do you break free? How do you step off that hamster wheel & into the CEO role you were born to occupy? It starts with two key words: delegation & systems.

I know, I know, delegating can feel scary. Especially when you've built everything from scratch & have that nobody can do it as well as I can voice whispering in your ear (I’ve had many a wrestling match with that one myself! Even after founding Femmeprenista, I remember struggling to let go of writing every single social media post, convinced that my voice would get lost.   • Start by documenting your key processes. What steps do you take to onboard a client? How do you create your content calendar? Get it all out of your head & onto paper (or a Trello board, if that's your jam!).

  • Identify bottlenecks. Where are you spending way too much time on manual tasks? Which parts of your process feel clunky or inefficient?
