It frees you from the mundane, repetitive, or low-value tasks that drain your energy and creativity. It empowers you to grow your team, your network, and your impact.


But how do you delegate effectively? How do you find the right people to outsource to? How do you communicate your expectations and monitor their performance? How do you avoid micromanaging or losing control?

A good rule of thumb is to delegate anything that is not your core competency, your unique value proposition, or your passion. For example, if you’re a graphic designer, you might want to delegate accounting, marketing, or customer service. If you’re a writer, you might want to delegate editing, proofreading, or formatting.

  • Find the right person or team to delegate to. The next step is to find the right person or team to delegate the task or responsibility to. You want someone who has the skills, experience, and availability to do the job well. You also want someone who has a good attitude, work ethic, and communication style. You can find potential candidates through referrals, online platforms, or agencies.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively. The third step is to communicate clearly and effectively with the person or team you’re delegating to. You want to make sure they understand what you want them to do, why you want them to do it, how you want them to do it, when you want them to do it, and how you’ll measure their success.
